The New European Super (borefest) League

That is the problem the clubs have gotten themselves into though. It is harder than to simply not pay the higher wages. I don't mean to not change their contracts now, but football is shooting themselves in the foot with the prices that have been pushed up in the last 10-15 years. If I remember correct, when Pompey went bankrupt, didn't they pay like 110% of their income in wages or something like that? There is after all reasons why the North American sports tend to have salary caps.
The clubs have gotten themselves into or the governing bodies?

Allowing billionaires and nations to buy clubs and make a mockery of FFP. When some teams have an unlitimited budget prices will rise for the rest. Fifa/uefa sellout across the board with dodgy under the table deals to sell competitions/finals to the highest bidders so why be surprised when club ownership sellout to make more money and manage their own competition.

Even if players come out against it do you really think the club owners are going to care?

its all about the money they know players will come anyway i dont see players speaking out changing anything

A Madrid court is trying to stop UEFA from preventing the ESL from going ahead, corrupt as hell obviously as Perez will have had a massive part in that, but also pointless as a Spanish court will have no control over foreign teams.

no but if they win and it allows spanish clubs then it sets a precedent for the other nations

It sounds like the franchises have already passed the point of no return, it's being reported that any club who backs out now could be sued for billions.
That could be the biggest machievellian twist of the lot- if that was Real+Barca's aim: put English clubs into a no-win situation to get cash from them one way or the other, and if that doesn't work see them in law suits that cripple their accounts for the immediate future. I'm not saying I think that's what's going on, just that it would be one hell of a plot twist worthy of a Netflix drama.

It sounds ludicrous to think that would happen. So why bother posting on social media about being against the whole idea?
It's a lot easier to say you're against an idea than to cut your salary to 10% of what you currently earn. When the Glazers began their takeover of Utd, Utd's then CEO David Gill was very publicly against it, urging shareholders to reject the offer. He continued in his role as CEO of Utd, under the Glazers and fully supportive of them, for 8 years after the takeover and still sits on their football board now.

All the players in the rebel 6 have earned enough money to last 10 lifetimes. If they had any morals or real love for the game, they would do something about it.

However money does strange things to people

Anyone watch MNF aftermath yesterday? Carragher asked Neville directly if you would ever do punditry work for ESL (saying that he wouldn't), and Neville dodged the question (I like him as a pundit, but he has an annoying habit of changing the topic when asked something, it's like just uses the time others are talking to premeditate what direction he wants to take things in regardless of what they actually say/ask).
