Black Friday, £130 later

Haven't had a chance to try it, but I've been looking for a decent tripod for a while, and when this came up on Black Friday, I figured I'd pick it up. For reference, Manfrotto 190cx3.

It seems reasonably stable, need to pick up a ball head for it at some point, it loses some stability when the legs are really out flat, but I've found a better way to attach camera for close to ground shots, just have to be ok taking shots upside down xD

Similar to mine, I think mine is the 190cxpro4 instead of 3! Not the most stable thing to strap a long lens to for long exposures but I don't mind lugging it around since its nice and light :) often use it as a monopod/bipod to make it more mobile.

I got the 468MG Manfrotto head to go with it and it works well together :)

How you finding your 18-35mm? I think that's next on my buy list.

I don't have a 18-35 :( they're not ff supportable :( otherwise I probably would xD

It seems really hard to destable.... May because it's 3 rather than 4 extensions

Ah yeah, my apologies, I'm getting you confused with Buzzlightweight lol :)

The tripod itself is stable but because it's quite light you need to weigh it down a bit on grass. The spike feet probably help with that but I haven't bought those yet. I also get the impression there's a bit of flex when I use bigger/longer lenses but maybe that's in my head hehe.

i think thats the same tripod i got. hardly use it as i felt it was too heavy and bulky to carry around :(

I took some photos last night for an event at my students union. One of the guys who works for the union media team was there with a 1DX and 70-200 f2.8 which is owned by the uni.

I managed to have a very quick go with it and can't believe just how good the kit is! What I hadn't realised is just how effortless it is to turn the zoom ring on the lens. It also weighed a ton!

I'm now finding it even more difficult to hold out on a purchase for the 70-200mm f4. I will own it eventually, it's just a matter of when I can afford it!

When I mentioned to the guy that I was looking at buying the f4 version, he looked at me and said "I have no idea what that means."

And he gets paid to use a 1DX and L glass!!!!!!

Just got these bad boys from ASDA, only £1.50 each!

They must be good because they've got Polaroid written on. Right?

Now to go some serious landscape.

Can't seem to find the tripod bush though..

Wanted to get into photography for some time, so thought this would be a good starter unit other than the normal phone-cam or pocket cam -

Its not as fan-dangle as some of the more expensive units, money was tight as it was part of a birthday gift, but seemed to have good features for the money, i was looking at getting a larger lens to work with it, something like the 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX, which can be had for around the £90 mark, or would there be better suggestions, would that be a good choice as an additional lens ?

I'm in a real pickle at the moment.

I'm really tempted to sell all of my SLR gear and get an X-Pro1 (especially as Fuji have the free lens deal on at the moment).

But I don't think I can bring myself to sell it, it's not exactly cheap kit and I've spent a lot on it over the years (D3 + lots of pro grade lenses).

Has anyone made a switch like this?

If I do I don't think I would sell the D3 body, as I doubt you'd get as much as I think for it, and if I want to go back to SLR I have that ready.

The biggest thing is I could sell my Nikon 70-200 VRII for almost the price of the whole X-Pro1 kit!! Hmmmmmm......
