Sony A6000

So far, it's really working well for me...coming from an eight year old Canon Powershot compact I suppose it would!

Video in particular is amazing. Low light without flash is still a challenge for moving subjects, but I've had no problems with the autofocus (seems to work better with AF light off!?).

I can't decide, I am going to sell/trade my 5D2 and 50/1.4 (it's my spare 50mm), either for a Sony A7 or a Nikon something. Purely to try something different, and before the price of the 5D2 gets any lower.

D800, D600, D610 or Sony A7?

What I worry about with the Sony is that I don't know what glass is good, and probably end up getting an adaptor for my Canon lenses, but then is there a point then to get the Sony with a Canon lens on the end of it?

Returned the Summicron and replaced it with the 50mm Summilux ASPH. I thought I could live with the compromises, but I just couldn't knowing how superior the 'lux is. I got the silver coated brass version, which feels a step up build quality-wise from the 'cron.

Nice lens. The 50 Summicron is better at f/2 than the Summilux at f/1.4, but stopped down to f/2 or f/2.8 onwards the Summilux is better in the fine details. Nailing focus is the key.

The biggest concern I had was with the reported problem the Summicron has with flare in back-lit scenarios. The Summilux being a much more flare resistant lens. The extra isolation you get with the 'lux is also something that will come in handy for my type of shooting.

Of course, the advantages of the Summilux also come with its compromises such as weight and price, but it was worth it for me.

You're right on the flare it is very well controlled with the Lux. I had both lenses on the Leica M9, both very nice rendering qualities. The 50 Lux is a superb lens, you will have fun with it.

Going to take my son to pick one of these up in the morning. He was looking at the fuji x m1 but lack of viewfinder put him off. Hoping it will have a few quid off in the sales.

my old g3 was limiting me a bit..mainly because the lenses I wanted were really quite expensive

so finally gone for a beginner DSLR/T - a sony a58 with 3 lenses, 18-55. 55-200 and a 50mm f1.8 , its not cutting edge but it should get me started.

will look at trading in my g3 body and kit lens to get a proper macro lens for the a58..or just buy one seeing as the lenses are way cheaper thanks to the OIS being on the camera body instead of the lens

Remember you can buy older Minolta lenses for Sony as the are A fit lenses.

Christmas treat I've wanted a smaller quslity camera for a while and the current give away prices on the EOS M were to good to resist. Really pleased with it so far the AF on the latest firmware seems fine for my usage and the quality of images with the 22mm f2 is fantastic. Hopefully canon will release a few more pancakes as the kit zoom while good is a bit bulky for me!

my new kit arrived

the bag ( a tecno rucksack), hahnel compact c4 tripod, a uv filter and a 16gb sandisk extreme sd card were a freebie

Not posted in here in a while so thought I'd take a couple of quick pics while I had a rare couple of mins.
