The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Lottery win?

I wish :p

Switched back to the D800 a few months back after dabbling with an X-T1, while it was a fantastic camera that did my back wonders and had some cracking glass I just don't think the system is ripe enough yet.

I've Been doing more and more commercial work in my spare time over the past few months and although I find it mind numbing it really helps bolster the kit tin.

Can I be rude, how much and what store? Going to ditch my 430ex2 and 622c's for the same setup. I currently have in my Ebay basket 2 Flash at £129.99 each and transmitter at £59.99 which seems reasonable and it's a UK seller so no import fees.

I think I got the flash slightly cheaper (not by much - maybe £10/15) but I ordered mine as a pre-order so the prices were a bit lower. Demand still seems quite high so I guess they're keeping the prices up a little.

Price was very decent too.

I didn't get charged any import fee either btw. I haven't seen an import fee for anything bought the past 6 months :D

Good stuff cheers, it's £16 more expensive between UK and HK which ain't too bad but with 3 day delivery?!?

Just out of interest, what do you wedding peeps and other regular flashy users do for batteries?

I had my first real use out of the flash on new years eve at a mate's party and the 4xAAs didn't last all too long. I can only imagine how many batteries you need if you're using multiple flashes?

Were your batteries regular AA? I use Eneloops and a single set easily covers an average wedding as I only use the flashes during the night and I'm never shooting at high power anyway, maybe 1/8 max, normally around the 1/32 to 1/64 mark in combination to act as fill and diffusion.

£16 difference isn't huge, if you don't mind the extra cost then make sure the UK seller does have U stock else you may as well buy YN direct.

Yeah don't think they will quite cut it. Eneloops are where it is at for performance.

Nice! I got the same MacBook for Christmas and have been thinking of getting the iMac 5K but as I've been unable to try one I'm not convinced that it's going to be quick enough with a 5K display - LinusTechTips said it struggled. How are you finding it? I'd be using it for the same reasons with the CC suite.

Any particular model or is there just one? The ones I saw on Amazon were only rated 1800 mAh. Maybe they're different types of rechargeables? Never really looked into which was best or which was better for a flash.

I used these for all of last years weddings - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-ni...chargeable-2000mah-aa-batteries-12-pack-l30bj

Same as mrk though, hardly ever use flash in the day. Been very impressed with them. Only setup around dancefloor at night for first dance/party shots.

Been trying to research Yongnuo for a while - always used Canon 580 EX II's but now we've switched to Nikon I'm looking at the YN's. Would this sound the best option for Nikons?

I've got rechargables from 7daysh*p and they are rated at 2900mAh....last for ages !

Yeah more mAh will always be good but many folks choose the Eneloops for their charge retention! 70% charge retained after 5 years of not being used means you could go months without using the flashes and then go to use them one day and still have charged batteries!
