The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

My fortnight holiday from work started off fairly expensive. Just placed an order for a Canon 16 - 35 mm L f2.8 II USM as I've used one in the past and didn't fancy going for the latest one so that fills the gap below 24mm :o and I also bought a Canon 24 - 105 mm f4 L IS USM to help out my partner's daughter as she's recently graduated and got a few photo shoots coming up so helped to bridge the gap between her nifty 50 and 70 - 300! Worst case scenario is i take the lens back if she doesn't get on with it and I'll have a walkabout lens for going on holiday! :) Hopefully these should be with me before the weekend.

Arrived today also got a hood for the 24 - 105.

Just purchased the Voigtlander Nokton F1.2 50mm for sony FE mount. I'm expecting good things from this :) I wish Google could get the filter thread size right. I just bought a 52mm filter ring on its recommendation-only to realise it's 58mm when it arrived.

I've spent a bit of time with my R5 and it's great. I can't say I really have any real complaints. I thought the battery life would be an issue but in all reality if you are not shooting for work / firing off multiple hundreds of shots over a short time; two batteries are enough for a day of intense shooting. Especially with the USB-C in camera charging allowing to top up when out and about. It's a big upgrade from the 5D4 and makes me realise how small the upgrade was with jumping from the 5D3 to 5D4.

The much lighter and smaller body of the R5 feels good and the added extra length of the EF to RF adapter hasn't been an issue for me. All my EF lenses just work so much better and focus nails a lot more often, still amazed by the eye tracking AF.

It's a me issue, but I'm still falling into the trap of taking everthing with me when heading out on trips, I really need to snap out of it. I tend to view having a smaller lighter body means that I can pack more lenses.

The only thing that bugs me is the lack of inbuilt GPS, when I'm out and about I just forget to turn on the Canon app on my phone. It's frustrating but ultimately a small issue.

It's a Jaunt One 24 Lens, 360 VR Camera.
16k or 8k stereo 3D.
120 FPS Global Shutter all sync'd.

You'd need Eddie Hall if you wanted to use it with a selfie stick

This is not my photo, I'm scared to open it it up - what a beautiful piece of over engineering.

First photo taken with Google Pixel 6. Cant fault the Google phones/Gcam, I only replaced my Pixel 2XL as I smashed it last month, little has changed.

The X3 does look good. I hope to get one soon, specifically for the new dive case, I wish the Insta RS-1nch had a dive case. I know I'll get horribly bullied for having a camera on a selfie stick, it's not considered acceptable.;)

Just completed my prime lens setup for my A7C by adding the 20mm G f1.8 to the 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 I already had.

Got myself a DJI Osmo Action 4. So much nicer than my old GoPro Hero 2. They've come on a long way. Look forward to trying it, not done anything with video for a long time.

Presume Davinci is still the go to editing software.

Pleased to see they revised the battery door which is now a hatch opening, the YN600EX series had the massive door that could easily break its locking latch which is what happened to one of my YN600EX-RTs, hence the reason to upgrade one of them.

Yes to the body, 35mm 1.4 @ 2.2 is 800 :D

That lens nearly lives on the body really, so good, so sharp on whatever you focus on. But then again you'd expect it for the price!
