The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Does this count as gear? The local lab owners will be clicking their heels if they see this.

What's the expiration date on those ?

You can see the rolls of 120 on the right one rolls 2023 where as the others are 2025. The boxed kodak gold on the right in 35mm looks like it'll be an expired one as well. Most of the films in scuzi's photo will probably be newer stock but nothing that storage in a fridge / freezer won't solve!

The Ektar and Cinestill 50D both expired late last year but will still be fine. The rest are all late next year so I’ll blow through them long before then!

The roll in the old Kodak Gold box expired in 2003, so 21 years ago. I just shot a roll of it (picked up 2 of them at the same time) and got mixed results, so not the best for shooting anything important, but I was really happy with a few of them, e.g…

I think I might make a thread to document my film stuff like @Derek W has. I don’t want to hijack his, even though it’s his fault I got back into it!

Bought the Samyang 35-150mm for A7iv but the lens creep and consistent AF missing is just irritating. Shame too, the range is great!

Will return and aim for 24-70 GM I think.
Did you consider (or had you previously tried) the Tamron version of the 35-150mm? I’d be curious to know if there were any noticeable differences.

No, I only became aware of it because Amazon had it at a really low price a few months ago. After watching several reviews, it seems like the Samyang is a carbon copy of the Tamron but several hundred £££ cheaper.

Figured all 11 of my YouTube subscribers would appreciate some 4k content, so a little upgrade today.

Missus is getting more into photography so having two bodies will be handy. Will be keeping the A7, still takes wonderful stills, but can definitely see an immediate difference.

May pick up a 24-70 2.8 soon too.

I briefly had the 28-75 G2 Tamron. Was sharp across the centre and corners and lightweight for its size, the vignetting was really bad when wideopen. Correction of course can sort this but just something to bear in mind.

Can't linky here due to self-promotion rules.....but I am absolutely blown away by the video quality from the A7C. I shot some bouldering videos the other day, shooting into the sun and with a lot of stuff in the shade, pulled an insane amount of detail out of the shadows, final footage is incredible.

Yep I love my A7c, I'm rocking an A7 IV and A7c and shot a full wedding on it a couple of months ago after the A7 IV crapped the bed in the morning and had to go back to Sony.
It never missed a beat the whole day and I love it.

For the price they are now why they don't get more love and attention I dont understand.

Got a DJI Ronin-SC a few days ago and been out shooting more footage, it's crazy good.

The Ronin is a steal at <£120 from MPB. Mad what kit you can get for your money these days. Got a monitor on the way as well, then think I'm (mostly) good for video for a while :D

Wow, thats a crazy price for a Ronin SC, mental actually. I dont shoot a lot of video but for those sorts of prices its worth having one in a 'stuff you might need one day' pile.

Whoa, I didn’t know they can be had that cheap.

It was missing the control cable, which I ended up having to buy from DJI £19. Regular USB-C doesn't work, needs additional pins sadly.

Tis a really solid bit of kit, good workout taking extended shots mind :D

Got to grips with the main functions now, just need a bit of practice. Now learning the fun of colour and gamma profiles and grading/LUTs.

Been quite a photo nerd in the past so know my way round stills, but learning loads about video.

What is the difference between the Ronin SC vs the Regular Ronin RS Mini?

Nevermind...there is an answer on YouTubem, as always.
