The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Had my Canon D750 for over 8 years and have been pondering an upgrade for some time. Finally pushed the button on this lot:

Canon R6 MkII
Canon RF 24-70 f2.8 L
Canon RF 50mm f1.8

As you might imagine it's quite an upgrade and working out the autofocus settings alone has kept me baffled all week (barely spoken to the wife & kids) but so far I'm loving it - even though it weighs a ton with the 24-70 bolted on the front!

Taking it out for the first time today since it's finally stopped raining so will see how I get on.

Niceeee
The 24-70 is a lovely lens

After ruminating about purchasing a Leica Q3, summer happened and I realised there is now an R5 Mark ii...

I think in my haste I forgot the reason I sold 2x 5D Mark IV, 5 Lenses, 3 Flash Guns...and that was size...

I will rarely use this 24-105 but always good to have. 35mm and 85mm primes were my go to and the price of these lenses is scaring me enough to look at a X100VI as a walkabout!

Very nice, the R6MKii is fantastic.

Very very nice, insane you can buy the R5 for just under £2000 now brand new, so much camera for the money!

It's the holy grail for me, I mostly shoot my kids but I like the idea of doing some landscapes when on holiday. 70mm is about where my 50mm prime was on my old APS-C and the widest 24mm is about where I used my old 10-18mm most of the time. It's a monster compared to my old EF budget lenses though, which weighed about as much as a fart. The sheer heft of the thing is taking some getting used to but in the short time I've used it it's already shown to be worth the cost!

I love it, so much more advanced than my old D750 - the EVF alone is worth the money compared to the OVF on my D750.

I've just gone down the route of 35 and 85 in the way of Loxia's with my A7R2. Great fun shooting with them and have some lovely photos already whilst learning to get the best out of them. Got a Tamron 28-75 G2 and whilst sharp across the frame, it didn't feel like a major upgrade over my copy of the tiny 28-60 kit lens.

Customary picture of the new to me Loxia 35 + Loxia 85 mounted on a PD Capture Lens:

My old school corner with the old Henge Docks and Yamaha amp :p Whilst I already have a cheap little sling bag, when ordering the capture clip I couldn't resist getting a Sling 3l in Coyote to look at closer.

Well, the 3L Sling v2 in Coyote has arrived and it's darker in colour than I imagined! Photos make it look brighter, as it's a metallic finish. Brown in dark light and almost gold in bright. It's small, a push to fit my A7R2 and both
Loxia inside of it (with the capture lens attached to the 85), but it can still take a few more bits. The lenses can hang on the outside quiet well though and frees up one side.

I believe they are grey importers along similar lines as e-infin and P-moz.
Yes they are, there's a decent FAQ on their website which explains exactly what they do and how they do it, the warranty you get and anything else you might want to know. I emailed them with a few more questions of my own and had a very quick response which put my mind at rest.

I read plenty of reviews on forums (including this one) and it all checked out so I placed the order. Other than it taking 7 days instead of next day as you might get with a UK company, the eperience was identical in terms of confirmation & tracking emails etc. I saved over £1k on the lens and it arrived via DHL very well packaged in all original Canon boxes etc. exactly as if I'd bought from Wex, London Camera Exchange or anywhere else in the UK.
