The *New* Official C&C3 Thread

The second part of the April podcast is now online. Senior Development Director Chris Corry and Lead Balance Designer Greg Black are in the hot seat, it's pretty long so here's a summary of the main points:

* Emphasises ladder ranking is based upon who you beat rather than how many games you play.
* Ladder resets every 3 months or so.
* Game has code to determine who did the disconnect, but persistent offenders will have accounts deleted and even serial number blocked!
* Scrin Harvester Ion Storms are gone,
* SAMs are getting a boost,
* Flame Tank weapon damage will be doubled,
* Avatar price will be dropped,
* Scorpion Tank damage will be reduced to hopefully reduce the Scorp. spam,
* GDI's dig in ability cost and build time will be reduced
* A few tweaks to the Mammoth Tank.

Haha, those havester storms were really annoying!

Scorpion Tank damage will be reduced to hopefully reduce the Scorp. spam,

So they are gonna screw up SP cause people cant counter tanks with tanks.

Edit
Mammoth anti-air rocket damage decrease, build-time and cost increase, speed decrease. (*** they already take too long in SP to build and what the hell is with the price increase ? s this patch just for britain or something)

Scorpion tank damaged reduced slightly (Like they arnt weak enough)

*** are EA doing they finally make a decent game and they cant handle it so they screw it up with patches.

I completley agree. While the upgraded Scorpion tank rush is my prefered tactic, a good player would have already scouted my base and seen what I was doing. Aside from that it's easy to counter with air to ground attacks.

question to those who play multilpayer:

How do you normally organise your forces?

I normally seperate my forces, i'll have the tanks as their own unit, and the foot soldiers as their own unit. Each of these two units will be split up to 'cover' a certain area. Unless im attacking, then i'll gather a large amount of tanks (mammoths) and push them forward.

another question just came to mind. a lot of the time, i'll push the tanks forward, with a wish for them to simply get to a certain area, occupy it, and kill any enemy within distance. I selected one of the strategies, think its 'force attack' or something, yet they attack in a crap way. Only some of the tanks in the unit will fire. The only way to get them to all fire as a unit is for me to right click on the target. The thing is i don't want to have to baby each unit as i need to organise the rest at the same time.

Like last night, i was playing against a friend via hamachi on a 2 player map. I gathered 6 mammoth tanks at my base, scrolled to the area where his base should be and right clicked for them to all move their as a unit. I had to follow them the whole way, because when they encounter enemy, they hardly respond. Anyway, im right clicking on any enemy we encounter, so my tanks all attack that enemy at once, when that enemy dies, i click on the destination which is his base again. This takes a while, we get to his base eventually and were getting massacred. I scroll back to my base and i notice a load of his foot soldiers just standing in my base, around my construction yard, not attacking, just standing there. The thing is, i had a lot of foot soldiers and a few tanks who didn't even care that they were there as they weren't attacking them. I got my foot soldiers and tanks on base to attack them, kill them, then join in the attack with the mammoths. We won in the end, found out the reason why my friends foot soldiers were just standing around on my base is because he was in a rush as he needed to **** and forgot to right click on his target lol.

Thanks for experiencing this touching moment with me, now if anyone can offer any advice, other than on my writing style, that would be appreciated :D

Personally I agree with all the updates, played fair bit online aswell so I'm no noob.

Anyone tried unfair advantage map with top base Scrin (brutal).

Ive tried multiple times and am just getting owned playing as nod, other team is nod or gdi (on same team)

I tend to build power gen/harvestor/observer and set the observer to the middle and start with 2nd harvestor, still get owned by about 50 seekers/ufos and 100s of fleas

Any way around it ?

It's very clear that are EA are trying their best to make this the 'Western Starcraft', to use a quote I read somewhere, Scorpions did need a nerf, though if they've not touched Predators after this I would be surprised. Mammoths did need some changes, and I agree with pretty much everything they have done to them.

Honestly, this will hardly effect some boring static single player and will making the multiplayer side of things so much more rewarding, and strategic.

If you want them to attack on the way set their stance to aggressive. Its easy ;)

I think when u play a skirmish and set the AI to brutal they have like 10x the amount of credits then u do ?

No, only double the credits, they're the same AI as Hard with double the credits, no other difference.

They also repair much faster.

Page 21 of the game manual:

Brutal: "Recommended for hardcore players who want to win by the skin of their teeth - or not at all. The Brutal AI gets double income as its only cheat."

So it simply cheats lol aint gonna bother with brutal then ;)

In theory once you've destroyed 50% of their starting income - it's just the same as playing against 'hard'. Although that's easier said than done!

on hard I tried unfair advantage map with a m8 against scrin and won.... they simply didnt have the resources afterwards ;)

But I can tell u we only won cos they had nothing left to fight with and I built about 10 turrents in the middle outside there base.

But I guess so set on brutal they would effectivly require double the income to really own ;)

It's not double the starting credits, its double the income throughout the entire match :( Can still keep them low on credits with early game harassments, 5 shadow teams can take out a refinery or 5 pitbulls can take out a harvester without much trouble, keep their income low and you can keep them on their knees until you've spammed enough to take them out.

just had an epic game, 45 minutes long on pipeline problems, me (scrin) vs nod with over 1000 units built over the course of the game. the tide swung back and forth multiple times, with each of us surviving by the skin of our teeth on several occasions.
Finally he made a nuke and i managed to stop it with 9 seconds left to launch.
Was pretty chuffed at the end of it.
