The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

is it possible to put a game on without connecting to the net? Put on SD card? If so, how?
you need to get the 'game'.apk and put it onto your SDcard.

o install APK applications on your Android phone do the following:
  1. Copy the APK file you want to install to your phone's memory card and insert the card into your Android phone.
  2. Go to Android Market and search for the Apps Installer, App Installer, z-App Installer or Fast Installer application.
  3. Open it and click on the Install button.
  4. After it is installed, just open it. It will show you all the APK files stored directly in the root directory of your memory card.
  5. Just click on the application you want to install and it will be installed.

Download one of the free app installers from the market, put program on sd card, installer app will install from card.

Anyone got RLS7 of JJ installed uet? If so, how are you liking it and is there a reason to upgrade from 6 to 7?

It's superb, other than a possible weak signal issue, but was that fixed in 6? Maybe I should install 6 then 7 over the top.

I have been getting excellent battery life from my phone as a light user i can get well over 3 days worth.

However last night while the phone was plugged in i used facebook and gmail. Once fully charged i turned off wifi and went to bed. I woke up this morning and the phone is at 77% when normally it would still be 100% or 99%.

Have these apps been constantly waking up the phone even though there is no data connection?

I have checked the battery history and useage but that only shows phone idle and cell standby.

No partial wake usage in battery history?

IIRC the phone will discharge to 95% battery capacity if left plugged in.
but even so thats a lot of drain without activity.
did you leave the Data connection on after you used it?

Its as though the phone went into discharge mode, and when you thought it was charging when in use, it actually was not.
Try and replicate it as it could be a bug?

(edit)
There is a facebook synch fix on the OP for Jellyfish RSL7 (very bottom attachment). I dont have time to read through that thread atm, but it could maybe be something for you..

I will charge the phone tonight and see what happens. I've been using it a lot today.

Incidentally. I had the phone on silent (vibrate) and was listening to MP3s via earphones. When i received an SMS the phone did not make any noise. Surely it should notify me with a beep or break in the music like my old Nokia did, otherwise how the hell are you to know you've received something?

I would imagine by not having it in silent. If you have headphones plugged in then it only outputs sound through that method.

Yes but then as soon as i take the headphones out, i then need to put it on silent again.

In symbian no matter what i was doing, be it listening to music, watching something or using sat nav, it would always notify me of an sms or call by a tone when headphones were plugged in.

Bought one of these the other day for my wife (£89.99) and put Jellyfish on it today.

To be honest in quite impressed with it for the price, unlocked it for free thanks to an app from Modaco and it was easy to rout and flash.

Its not as fast or as well built as my HTC desire but for the price you cant go wrong and i dont have to wonder all the time where my phone is when she is playing angry birds :), the battery life is also better than on my Desire

What benefits would I see upgrading from deorengated ROM to Jellyfish? Seems to be a lot of talk about it.

It is more about going from a crippled android 2.1 to 2.2.
There are also benefits to just running a cleaned (de-oranged) 2.1.
You can read about most of the changes between the two if you google, but a little link i found for you to read is HERE

I'm trying to download Swype for the 3rd time now, it just doesn't seem to move at all. Other downloads work fine and I'm using wifi. Is there somewhere else I can download it from?
