The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

I tried those 2 links last night and again just now. Works fine.

Work fine for me.

Are you using the standard orange browser as Opera wouldn't open some of them.

Cheers guys, got it working now. Had to link my gmail account before it'd work.

I tried Orange browser first, then checked using chrome on the PC. Chrome did nothing with them, but once I'd linked my gmail on the handset, then they worked fine.

Cheers for confirming it was just me.

You need to enable hardware acceleration on flb g2.

Enabled HW acceleration using Root Explorer, now I get slightly better at 451, 466, 440 and 457.

Edit: Running the default MoDaCo 2.2 ROM now and getting 931 and 1005, which is good. But phone doesn't feel noticably faster. Might just go back to JJellyfish after all!

Im still not happy with my battery life, been in ebuddy for an hour and battery is losing 1% every 3 minutes.

Probably stagefright mucking up the score on the 900 run.

Are these still the best phones for around the £100 mark?

In my opinion yes. I had an e71 before this, and although its battery life was 10 times better it outshines the e71 in every other way. I think the screen looks amazing.

Get one you wont be dissapointed.

Slipperz :)

had mine on since yesterday morning about 9am its now on 68%, ive not used it at all really just turning the screen on from time to time to check status. im running a juicedefender app which is ment to increase battery life, will let it run down using it as normal and try the phone again with it turned off to see if it helps life

The battery needs a few cycles to start working optimally. I'd try doing tests after you have had the phone for a week, rather than the day after you bought it.

I'm actually really impressed with the battery life. Quite often I won't use the phone very heavily for a few days, only make a couple of calls and send a couple of texts. In this state it's lasted 4 days before needing a recharge.

Has anyone else played Tank Hero? It's a really cool free game.

Well of course if you don't use it, it will last a long time, but then what's the point in having a smart phone :p

had it since 17th december, didnt say id just bought it :( this would have been about the 7th charge the battery has had so it should be cycled by now. will see how it goes over the next few days. im sure i did try this test before but without the app and im sure it got about 5 days or more with minimal use but i cant remember so i might be wrong, this battery app does seem to have drained it more than i thought sofar

Get spare parts and check wakelock in battery history, anything in there with a big blue bar is stopping the phone entering a suspend state.

Has anyone found a video player for this that can handle HD video?

I've got some HD Divx files but the phone just can't handle it. I've tried VPlayer, QQ Player, Rock Player & Arc Media but the video playback is either blocky or extremely slow.

It's not a big deal as I doubt I'll watch them anyway but it'll be cool if its one more thing this little beauty can do. :D

The main problem with the camera is the quality of the plastic lens cover on the back. Try removing the back cover and taking a photo, you will see a significant improvement compared to when the back cover is in place.

Hence why some people over at Modaco have drilled through the plastic cover, or removed it entirely. This does have the downside of exposing the camera lens to dust, etc.

edit: some comparison photos taken with/without the back cover in place:
