The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Case is way too big for the phone, end of.

:P

To each their own. :p
OSF doesn't move in the case, and it's not so tight that it's a struggle to get it out. OSF drops in and a gentle push is all that's needed to fully insert the OSF.

I urge everybody not to buy the Clingo garbage.
I wasted £20 because my SGS sticks to it but none of my covers do - pointless.
I've ended up putting a strip of velcro on the Clingo and on the back of my cover.

A bit harsh, but probably advisable if the OSF is in some sort of cover/skin.

It holds my naked OSF with no problems. It even held my Kindle DX for a while, until the sheer size of it caused the KDX to lever itself off the clingo.

Was wondering if theres any otehr covers out there for it that fit it better to be fair. Yours is smart but for me there's 2 major problems. 1) I never wear a belt 2) still to big for the phone (sorry!). Anyone have any nice covers that they could link me too? Been looking on eBay but not found owt.

I went to visit an Orange shop on Oxford Street the other day, and they said they still have it! I'm getting a bit bored of my Nokia X3-02 already and want something that is reliable for accessing my e-mails on the go and Whatsapp. Had a HTC Hero before so I'm not unfamiliar with Android. For £99, the chance to play around with it and root to 2.2 sounds appealing! I want to unlock it, remove any Orange branding in the OS, and stick my O2 Simplicity SIM card in there.

I'm guessing it's still the best smartphone you can buy for this price right? It's just something temporary for a few months.

I spent yesterday setting up my OSF with the Japanese Jellyfish Release 8. Everything went well and I found it quite easy to do. I just have a couple of questions though.

When I send a new message and click on the contacts icon it brings up all my contacts including emails. I have checked the option in the phone so that only names with phone numbers are shown but it's still the same. I have also deleted the email addresses in my google account that I don't want/need. I just want to be able to see the people with phone numbers when I'm sending a text.

Also, what's the benefit of getting a bigger sd card? Is it where any apps will go?

For the price you cant go wrong. Very easy to change Rom to.

got a few questions, im on jellyfish r8.

how do you set up your mms settings? i have put them into the APN bit named it o2 MMS, but then when i go back into messages, there is no option to choose which APN settings you want to use.

Also it seems as if you cannot delete any of the APN settings in the phone, how do you delete all the other settings? even when i go into them and press menu, the delete button comes up but you cannot select it, only discard.

Also you cannot edit any of the default APN's and any new APN you set up you cannot select it in the APN menu.

Also cannot get GPRS settings to work either, how you set them up, i can create a new APN fine, i just cant use it.

I just picked one up at an Orange shop. Gonna get it unlocked and rooted right away! Obviously I got a TFT screen one, but man the resolution is unbelievably awesome for a phone at this price.

Just installed the Japanese Jellyfish Release 9 using the guide on orangesanfrancisco website. Had some trouble installing the Windows 7 32-bit drivers for the Android in Device Manager, but luckily I have a Mac also so I used that instead to install the ROM.

any ideas on what type of SD card to get for this? had a look around, but a little confused as some are class 4 (?) and others are not..

It should work fine with any MicroSD or MicroSDHC card. The classes (4, 6, 8 or 10) give an indication of the lowest sustained speed it can attain in continuous transfers. Here are the actual speed ratings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital

However, it is debatable whether you will notice any difference between a class 2 and a class 10 card in actual use in the phone. As has been found with Windows Phone 7 memory card compatability, in some cases a high class on a memory card actually causes slow multiple small file transfers so it's not as clear cut as higher class = better performer.

My advice would be to get the size card you want (my 16GB is doing me nicely) and don't worry too much about what speed rating it is.
