Can anyone run a speedtest on their connection, particularly if you are on the O2 network. I've heard that O2 don't recognise the ZTE Blade hence only being able to receive MMS upto 25KB.
I'm concerned that this might affect the data connection speeds too.

It will have no bearing on data connection speeds, there's a fix for MMS message sizes on O2 on the blade forums.

been running it with juicedefender app on extreme setting, gonna run the battery down and try it again on a full charge with out the app see if its made any difference

As the guy above said - phone up Orange and enable your account. It's more of an anti-fraud thing than anything else and you'll get the credit put on the line
i rang them this morning to register the sim and get the £10 so i do have credit?
so you guys reckon there is a data bar on it or something?
And yes the orange apn is listed.
Is it worth making a new apn ?
anyone have the details for the san francisco as the stanard orange data details on google dont seem to have all it needs?
I just put a three sim in it and it got a Hsdpa signal straight away.
It also works with my t mobile contract.
Put the orange sim in my iphone and its got a full 3 signal?and the internet works fine.

453 i think is balance check - if you don't have the tenner phone up and get it added. Also - how exactly are you checking this? can you access orangeworld at all(it's free, not sure if it works on zero balance though)? There's no specific setting for orange+SF , going occams razor style, it's more likely you can't get signal than anything else 
can you please check orangeworld on both if possible. This is for technical reasons - you can only access orangeworld via network (refuses to work via classic internet or wifi) and it's method of access is basically all internal - you don't leave and exit via the NAT so it will show up different problems than just general APN issues.
