On another note, I've decided that Bladevillain might be a bit crap. Whilst it feels smoother in navigating around the phone, I keep on finding that it slows/crashes in angry birds and internet browsing, especially compared with the R4 rom (which was fine). One thing it doesn't seem to give is the option of switching off mobile network internet. It only seems to disable it when you switch wifi on.

The only downers with the R4 rom were WaveSecure, Titanium Backup and the rubbish stock keyboard. Might try something else - any recommendations? However, there's a little bit inside me saying to just go all-out and buy a used Desire...

Well about 10 calls later since Saturday, and being transferred from Sales to Collections to Tech Support, I finally got fed up and decided I'd return the damn thing rather than trying to have it replaced. Another 6 calls (!) and I think Ive got a prepaid envelope being sent out to me.

Shocking customer services from Orange.

A quick summary - sales cant do anything apart from sell, and "email" other departments (apparently !). Returns cant do anything until a handset has been diagnosed faulty. Tech support dont seem to understand that I havent registered my PAYG sim, because I never had a chance. And I cant register it now because the phone doesnt charge ! But they cant diagnose my handset unless Ive registered and have a phone number. Argh !

Most of their (returns/tech) call centre staff are really un-helpful and seemed very much "computer says".
They should accept a return if you say its faulty though, and for me they did dispatch one quickly (next day) each time. But yeh, they need sim number/phone number before they will even do anything, but AFAIK you can drop the sim in another phone and register it, so you can find out your phone number.

Ugh, going through similar hell atm. Good luck, you'll need it.

Quick overview:
  • Phone arrives, yey! it's lovely
  • Problem with sim card, takes a week to activate
  • £5 extra is taken out of my account. Orange Customer Services (Indian call centre presumably, lets call them OCS) says it wasn't them, nothing to do with us at all
  • OCS are awful. Instead of having to deal with those muppets in the future, I request to return the phone, get a refund and deal with my local Orange shop
  • Request is granted, they send a bag out
  • 2 weeks later I'm wondering where my refund is
  • OCS say that they are waiting on Channel Returns to process it
  • Channel Returns say they can't help as it's down to OCS
  • Fed up dealing with OCS, call the Orange Shop Online and speak to an English lass. Very helpful. Confirms the £5 was taken from Orange but should have been refunded instantly. She'll get on it.
  • ....surprise! Nothing happens.
  • Phone the muppets at OCS for about the 15th time. "i'm sorry sir, we cannot find any details of your account with us" :mad:. Apparently I must have been dreaming the last month! OCS confirm that they do not deal with issuing to refund directly, the money that goes into your bank is from Channel Returns
  • Channel Returns say that they do not deal with the refund directly, the bank transfer is done by OCS
  • Told Channel Returns I'm going to seek legal advice at my local Citizens Advice Bureau today

Also if you can't get through to OCS as you need to enter a mobile number to enter and it has been deactivated for the return process, press # 3 times when the machine asks you to enter it. You'll then be passed to a muppet.
 
got mine yesterday first smart phone I've ever had absolutely loving it so far.typing was difficult at first but I installed swype and every things good now :) unlocked it and I'm now running giffgaff. Happy days.
 
Gah! Finally got around to ordering one of these today, both the orange store and play have run out.. And it seems my barter skill is just not high enough to get the suit in the orange shop to let me have it with $10 top-up instead of 20.. :(

Sounds like a nightmare, my credit didn't activate after 8 or so days so I asked the guys on twitter and he activates it instantly :confused: (why the hell does it take a week to activate?)

You could try them, it's less hassle than hanging on the phone and they are fairly quick responding.

Some sites say its quad band, and some say its not :(
 
Help - newbie android user !!!

I've just got an orange sf phone today, so far I've installed the ClockworkMod, then I put Bladevillian zip on to root of sd card. Installed it then rebooted but now the screen has a ZTE animation which keep looping. Buttons don't do anything, help......
