The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

All you need to do is boot back into clockworkmod, delete user data/factory settings.
reinstall bladevillian and reboot.

Had the same thing.

I bought my San Francisco PAYG several weeks ago and transferred to the Dolphin package with the 100mb free internet and a £2 cap per day. When I took the phone home I played about with it and downloaded Sky maps and a camera app. I then checked the balance and found that I had spent £20. To cut a long story I took it back to the shop and said that there must be a fault. They were not really interested and called orange for me, who said that the accounts people would look into things and I would get a refund in 72 hours. This did not happen and after other calls I eventually found (accidently) that the 100mb of free internet access, with the £2 daily cap was restricted to Facebook, Bebo and Myspace. Accessing any other web site is charged at the standard rate of £4 per mb (I think). I contacted Orange to confirm this and received an anodyne reply which did not confirm things. I have read numerous reviews of the phone and package and the Orange pricing docs and this restriction is not mentioned.
I have bought a 250mb extra for £5 and this seems unrestricted, so I will come off the Dolphin package.
Great phone, let down by Orange. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Remember to topup after you transfer to Dolphin. It also takes a day or so for the internet to activate (you receive a text when it does). A lot of people have been caught out, by not waiting for the text. I don't know if people have said it here, but a lot have said this on hukd and modaco.

It isn't limited to just facebook and other social networking sites. What you read is something else which you can get giving you social networking sites for free.

I feel for you :(. Awful customer services.

Little update on my situation. Since informing Channel Returns that I'm seeking legal advice, they suddenly seem a lot more helpful. Might even be refunded today...



Hah! :D couldn't say that with a straight face.

Anyway, once i get the money back and go down to the local Orange shop, the sim card is going straight in the bin.

Just a couple of quick questions about the San Francisco before I grab one for the girlfriend.

Does it definitely come with a OLED screen, as I've heard there have been shortages, and people may get a form of LCD screen. Is this still the case, or are all White SanFrans now OLED?

Also, I was in the Orange Shop today, asking about the San Francisco, and they told me it was an AMOLED, and even brought up the specs on screen to show me, and sure enough it said AMOLED. Are Orange just being silly?

Buy it. If they tell you it's OLED and you get it home and it's not, that's misselling and they won't raise an eyebrow if you take it back. If you get it home and can't tell whether it's OLED or LCD, then it wouldn't matter which it is ;)

How about the white version that's available to pre-order on a very popular online store?
I've just pre-ordered one for the 30th, but would like to know if it'll be OLED :)
 
Finally picked the phone up yesterday, went to install Sebastians custom ROM using this guide.
But the ClockWorkMod doesn't load with the volume down button held, it just stays with the green androi dude, exactly the same as if the volume up button was held.
Anyone else have a similar issue to this?

Mine has worn away and it was in a flip case :(

No point it is a really poor coating and will do the same on another phone. Only solution is a silicon case.

At this price, I am not to fussed now and have just taken it out of its flp case.

Yea but my thoughts are that I can just keep the new back whilst using the old damaged one, then if it ever comes to selling it or it just looking too crap for my tastes I can swap them over :)
