The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Picked one of these up yesterday to use as my work phone.

Unlocked to Voda and using the BladeVillain ROM. Loving it, only drawback is the lack of data on my work sim! Although the lack of 3G should help the battery last a while.

My personal contract is up for replacement in Dec though so I see something Android based to replace my N900.
 
Tried the newer BladeVillain rom (1.1.0 i think). Seemed very good, however something was eating the battery today. Went from 80% down to 50% within 2-3hours with almost no use.

Going to try the newer Froyo build.
 
Let me know how you get on, I was looking at the 2.2 builds today. Talking to somone at work who said it makes the phone a fair bit quicker.
 
I've been using froyo for some time now. Still thinks its great, don't have any battery drain issues. I did turn off turn to mute straight away so probably has something to do with it. Games run so well too. Practically no slow down in angry birds.

NM, found it. People still seem to have gripes with this ROM, reading the thread in Modaco. I might just stick with 2.1 for the moment :)

Trying the new build which has that option taken out, but the dialer issue is gone in the new one.

Seems pretty good. Down to 87-88% atm from full this morning.
 
ok I have now managed to get mine rooted and ROM'ed up, loving it! Its like a world apart from the old LG Cookie!

I had a few questions etc, then I just re read this thread and pretty much have everything sorted!

One thing though, I unlocked and switched to my virgin SIM, however I'm not able to connect to any 3G network with it. Is there anyway to tell if it is 3G? Then I know if I need to order a new one from Virgin or sort my settings out!


Edit: NM that I forgot to set the APN settings, a usefull list is found here ;)

For anyone who used the initial £10 top up with Orange, how long did it take to be applied to the phone? It said in the box that my sim is ready to go but once I set the phone up, I only had 1p credit.
