The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

I read this phone wont be able to run the newer Android O.S (I think its 2.3, GingerBread or something). So you think people will still try to create customs roms using this O.S?

Or is it a hard ware limitation?

Also, whats more advisable, flashing custom 2.1 or custom 2.2 rom?

Which do you recommend as best most stable as close to vanilla experince Android 2.2 O.S?

Do you think I should wait a few months as there are some better 'budget' smart phones on the way early next year?

Well orange are messing me around (poor CS) and i still haven't got this handset even though.. thankfully orange have offered me a refund which should come to my account soon.

That said im still adamant in getting this phone therefore i'll get the white one of p|ay which is due for release 16th dec.. i'll rather wait and get a white colour version.

Does anyone have any pics of any with cases or it modified? I saw the green android sticker one in this thread i will go for something similar. Just thinking on the lines of modification once i get the phone, i'll get rid of the orange bloated software and probably get the android sticker before my phone arrives.

The orange store I was in yesterday had both the grey and white ones in stock

Has anyone bought a SF recently? Can they confirm that they're no longer coming with Amoled screens a la rumours of the switch over to TFT?

Should I bother wating to see what the next few months bring in terms of budget smatphones?

Or just get the San Fransisco and be done with it?

As long as it comes recomended which from what I gather it does, then I might pop in to my local orange store tommorrow.

Yea apparently the white ones are TFT. The black/grey ones will go the same way as well.

TFT is ok, but not as good as the OLED found in the current grey ones. The blacks aren't as good as the backlight in TFT is very noticeable.

This is where Im going to have problems with this phone.

Selecting the correct rom for me!

Ideally I'd use a 2.2 rom.

Any one have any recommendations... to 2.2 roms that they are using, and find to be good/stable etc....

Im really looking for the most default Android 2.2 rom as possible. As in as close to an official release if there is one?

Are there any budget smartphones coming in the next few months, that I should stall buying this phone for?

There is nothing to say that the Blade will ever have an official 2.2, if 2.1 isn't good enough for you then I'd wait for another phone.

I got a replacement last week, how do I tell?

Bugger, got out of the car earlier and dropped my phone. It turns on but the screen is cracked and it doesn't display anything. What can I do? or shall I just fork out for another one?

Mine broke whilst I was climbing, went in store and then spoke to someone over the phone in store too, convinced them to send me a new one :)

Just said I woke up, picked it off my desk and heard a crack, looked down and the screen was broken.
