The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

If you want 2.2, then the latest build in Modaco is the best to use. The screen freeze issue happens even so often when you try and 'wake' the phone. The screen will just not respond to touch and the phone needs to be rebooted by taking the battery out.
Happened before in the older Froyo builds and was quite annoying. Especially if someone is trying to contact you and the screen freezes.
For 2.1, there are a lot of builds out there. Modaco's R4 is decent as well as Sebs r6 rom. But I found BladeVillain's 1.1.0 to be the quickest.

It does play H.264 also, but seems a little picky. m.tvcatchup streams H264 at 480x320, looks very decent but the sound desyncs very fast and after a while it's like 4-5 seconds delay.

Between flashes of the rom, how do you back up and restore settings/data?
Is this even possible?
The one thing stalling me at the moment from buying this phone, is that I will be hacking the phone and loading customs roms, which by all accounts are buggy.
Also I hate so much choice! Surely there is one or two roms out there considered to be the best?
All Im really interested in is removing all the orange branding. 2.2 Android would be a bonus.
I just want the phone to be as vanilla Android as possible.

Looks like this has sold out pretty much everywhere right now. Just as I decided to get one, typical!
Wow this phone looks pretty damn awesome for the money, will check it out on my return to UK this christmas. Tempted to get my dad one to see if it can wrench him away from his BB!

Bugger, got out of the car earlier and dropped my phone. It turns on but the screen is cracked and it doesn't display anything. What can I do? or shall I just fork out for another one?
Buy a new one, probably not much more than paying to get it fixed.
Just installed the custom froyo rom by modaco on my wifes phone so far it feels much better only problem is the ime keypad keeps fc 
other than that its much better, native apsd seems to work great on apps written for it, biggest bonus for me is the wifi seems to work properly, was on R4 before and even with the wifi fix sometimes it didnt work, she ran up £20 worth of data usage somehow in the previous month

That said im still adamant in getting this phone therefore i'll get the white one of p|ay which is due for release 16th dec.. i'll rather wait and get a white colour version.
Does anyone have any pics of any with cases or it modified? I saw the green android sticker one in this thread i will go for something similar. Just thinking on the lines of modification once i get the phone, i'll get rid of the orange bloated software and probably get the android sticker before my phone arrives.

Which rom are you using?
The one it came with.
Flash it with one of the other 2.1 roms. I recommend the BladeVillain 1.1.0 rom, its been very stable for me.
Change it, it is terrible terrible phone on the original rom, I've used blade villian and it's much improved, it's like a new phone.

I sold mine I liked this phone at first because of the screen and then sold it. Couldn't stand the audio issues with it and Orange were been abit silly when it came to a return.
