The new Samsung Odyssey G9 Mini Led

I'm still contemplating if I should send mine back. It's been popping every time the monitor starts up for a good 2 hours and then it stays fairly quiet. It pops again if my brightness turns up in HDR mode.
One of the reason my previous G9 went back. Also I'm getting scanlines at 240hz.

The popping goes away after a few months of usage. Do any owners who have had a G9 screen for 6+ months still get popping? I would be surprised if so...

My current dilemma is if I should get an Ergotron HX arm. My attempt to mount it to the wall with a swivel arm failed - it simply has too much forwards weight. But my desk isn't the biggest and the feet of the stand really do protrude too far.

You’d put up with popping every startup for 2-6 months at a 2K dent in your pocket. Seriously?

No I wouldn't be happy at that price. Also wouldn't be happy about scanlines and HDR not working properly either...

It seems strange that mine is silent. I'm starting to wonder if it really did make a couple of pops a couple of days ago or it was something else I heard.

Was someone eating rice crispies in another room? That could have been what you heard!

You also need the upgraded HX Heavy Duty pivot for the arm, which makes the whole thing over £300! It does look good on an arm though. But it also looks fine on the stand that comes with it... for £300 you could probably get a bigger/better desk and a new chair!

I had the 2019 version. Like you say it stops after about 6 months but god damn it was noisey when I first got it. I’ve not heard a sound from my neo. Yet.but to be honest I’m a little underwhelmed with it. Hdr seems off. Getting colour banding and a haloeffect around bright objects in standard hdr.

Doesn't sound great. Are you noticing amazing contrast differences in day to day usage? E.g. can you tell its got a better back light than the normal G9, or do you have to crank up the settings and enable HDR, Dynamic Contrast etc, to notice?

Yeah you can tell the lightings a lot better with this. I mean the previous models only had 10 lighting zones. My biggest gripe with this monitor is the blooming, colour banding and the fact that the dynamic hdr mode with maximum brightness is unusable at the minute. At least for me. I’m not sure why these days your not able to calibrate your monitor the same way you can TV’s. Doesn’t make sense to me. Surely it wouldn’t be to hard to implement.

Might return mine, will speak with Samsung later today and see what the stock situation is like. Stuck pixel shouldn't be something to tolerate after splashing this amount of money.

HDR isn't as great as reviews make out, Standard mode is OK but not bright enough, Dynamic is a big mess.

Saw LTT uploaded their review yesterday, HDR looked great apparently! Honestly, do these guys do proper testing at all?

You mean the Linus Tech Tips literally "Sponsored by Samsung" review. I'm sure there won't be any bias there :D

it's a shame as I was tempted by the G9 but it sounds like it's still a ways from the dream display we all hoped for. Could still be good if the price drops a bit though I think.

Just spoke to Samsung support, was given the following spiel:

To inform you, due to the nature of the manufacturing of this product, approximately 1 pixel per million (1ppm) may be brighter or darker on the LCD panel. This does not affect product performance.

Willing to refund or send the screen off for repair although I don't think a repair is possible surely?

This was such a terrible "review" barely anything was mentioned apart from the obvious? I hope there's a more in detail follow up video
