Other leagues do this and the split works well for Scotland. All the clubs know the league splits after 33 games, its quite often a team will finish with more points but they are playing worse teams for the final 5 matches.

Scotland is by no means a major league though, if they wont change to a 18 or 20 team format, they wont play 44 games so the only other option is going back to a league of 10 which is hideous.

I will say what you are too polite to say. Its fundamentally an utter **** up. You have a team with more points being lower in the league but at the same time they have their points as a result of playing lesser teams than the top 6.

The SPL need only take a casual glance at any other major league in the world and ask why no one else does this.

Admitting they're wrong? I'd believe it when I see it - the numpties.

Final scores:

Celtic 4-0 Motherwell
Dundee Utd 2-1 Hearts
Kilmarnock 1-5 Rangers

Congratulations to Rangers on the Title, a close race in the end but that helps to make it somewhat more exciting.

Its a major league if you are a fan of a club in that league.

The split does not work well, its a shambles and adds nothing to anything.

Id disagree, respectfully.

The problem with the split, the last game today should have been Rangers vs Celtic, a title decider rather than playing it first to stop trouble (worked well obviously given the trouble we have had)

My dad bought a bottle of champagne to be drunk if Rangers won the league. Feels a bit silly to be sitting here, drinking champagne and orange juice in the middle of the afternoon.

Nice though :)

The police have already said there will never be another "title decider".

We all know that Rangers and Celtic will be top. No amount of buggering about will change that. What do we gain by the split? The stupidity will be illustrated the year that we have a close season and a team in the bottom six gets enough points to get a Europa League place but miss out cos they were in the bottom six at the split.

Fantastic display from The Champions. Exactly the send of Smith deserved. Beat team won the league after all well done for Celtic to push us hard this season. Looking forward to next year now with some money to increase the squad. Hopefully with quality again and quantity.

54 and counting.

Next season has disaster written all over it. This season was down to No Surname. Your new manager has absolutely no right to get the job but because his name is Ally McCoist no one questions it.

Smith with another double for him leaving Rangers after Celtic throwing league away against ICT. McCoist going to have a tough time next season to follow on from his record and can see Terry Butcher being favourite to replace him.

Cup final next Saturday should see Neil Lennon getting one trophy anyway in his first year going by Motherwell's display today.

I know that, but thats what should happen.

Im a bit confused about what team you support but the split is good for the bottom half of the league for relegation battles, it doesnt really make much difference for the top half as the quality isnt much difference other than Hearts at the moment. The problem is, people moan about the split but cant come up with a better solution and they wont change to an 18 team league (which would be the best thing we could do).

Shame about the comments that other people needing to look at themselves from Neil Lennon as that'll just be picked up by fans rather than him congratulating Walter Smith as a man he'd prefer to lose the title to than others in the game.
