The New Stargate Universe Thread

Well i think the seasons end has a 2 parter and the only hint is "An enemy from the milky way returns"

Lets not hope the Ori and maybe the replicators.

Well the Ori weren't from the Milky Way but the replicators could make an appearance, the good old replicators instead of the human form rubbish, based soley on the fact that the Replicators managed to get around a fair bit.

Unfortunately I could see it being a Go'uld who gets control of the communication stones and takes over the ship or something rubbish like that.

A bunch of Replicators would just be too explodey for this new type of mushy Stargate.

I had a dream the other night about SGU - a replicator bug segment was in it. Could be a premonition?

SPOILERS

The Replicators were completely wiped out as far as we know. The only known knowledge on how to construct the replicators is in the hands of the tau'ri (Earthlings) at least in the established stargate lore.

I would bet it is the Lucien Alliance that boards the ship and that they've had an undercover spy that made it onto the Destiny posing as one of the base peronel.

Could be the Go'auld though, Or a combination of both, so who knows.

Thank you for that spoilers warning, maybe next time space them further apart :/

You didn't know that the SG1 replicators were wiped out? This happened many years ago, so it's not really a spoiler.

Even the replicators in Stargate Atlantis got wiped out.

Currently in the SG universe, there there no living replicators (though given the nature of replicators it would be a brave man who would believe they are totally annhilated).

Yeah they are, there's also the fact that the Replicators had at their disposal Ludicrous speed allowing them to travel between galaxies quickly. This of course would mean that it is quite possible for the Replicators to be infesting other galaxies, like the Galaxy that the Asgard were from.

The Lucian Alliance actually sounds plausible given that they were aware of the secret Icarus Base.

Is anyone else thinking the fact they haven't once brought up what they can and can't do in their BORROWED bodies is unbelievable. From the getting smashed the other day, to having half of them having sex.

Is it not almost completely ridiculous for, for instance the latest ep, for the lesbians to have sex at all. Firstly it took her all of 8 seconds to not know who this person was to being completely comftable and being fine with having sex with her. Likewise, the chinese bird(bad with names on all the characters) didn't know the person she was in didn't have an STD, wouldn't be horrified to know she had lesbian sex while not in control, etc, etc.

The drinking I found nuts as, how does she know she's not an alcoholic or something, or doesn't like to drink. If there was any sense in the show they'd be confined to the base, not allowed to really do anything and really just talk with friends/family over the phone, heck they could, considering all the crap they've done before, quite easily fake their voices so they can phone family as themselves.

Last weeks wasn't as bad, it was a bit more SG-1, but I still didn't enjoy it that much, I think partially because it took too long to get to a non soap episode I've already lost that early interest, I'm already watching the ep's in the "get it over with" mood as I go in rather than excited to see what they do and I've already found too many characters unlikeable or flat out dull that I don't really care if they all die at this point.

Funnily enough I was thinking at the time that the person they're in could have some form of STD but I tend to forget the mushy bits straight away as they hold no interest for me. Overall though the entire affair is rather silly.

Time was a good episode. Life, well what a contrast. I'm not adverse to soap operas and I do like some of the human psychology aspects they are exploring, but my god they do drag it out.
Here's hoping the next episode will be better.

Allot of the plot summaries for the second half of the season look to be allot more interesting.

The first half of the season has been really iffy to me. I definitely liked Air Part 1 & 2 as they established the show nicely, although it kind of fizzled out when they went to the desert planet.

Darkness and Light were interesting, and the latter episode was very good.

As ive said before, the only one so far that has really made me go 'wow' has been time. It has the right balance of everything. The rest of the episodes ive just found incredibly boring tbh, to much soap opera.

At the end of the day the show is called Stargate Universe, i expect to see the Universe. not be stuck on Earth with the emotional problems of the characters.

Life is a prime example, nothing really happened, the crew discovered a piece of technology yet nothing came of it, although im assuming that it will pop up again later in the season.

I wish to god they break the ancient communication device and get on with something interesting.

I do hope its not Replicators they have been done to death in Atlantis. Although they do seem like the only likely baddies to get that far out in the universe.

Or some evil ascended person.

Either way get on with it!

I agree with most of that Demoniser, this swapping body stuff is a kind of boring way off adding a soap to our sci fi. The happenings in the episodes are mostly mundane and not much actually happens.

I want to see exotic locations or exotic technology, or something...

The time episode was good: mystery, planet, aliens etc... The episodes where they were heading towards the sun were ok in theory but it just took too long and it was pretty obvious to me what was going to happen anyway.

I really hope that some time soon something changes, because I'm seeing too much copy/paste ship interior, body swapping and everyone wearing the same clothes all the time.

I want to see something interesting.

You know at the beginning of the series where they went to the first planet and it gave them the 12 hour timer I thought that would be the format of Universe, 12 hours to go to different planets and do interesting stuff. I thought that was going to be it and I was disappointed but not as disappointed as I am now. I just get the feeling that they will eventually get somewhere and do something interesting but they keep leaving so many loose ends, like the pod that detached from the ship, those people that went missing through the gate on the desert planet and more.

Amen to that.

I did kinda like time - tho I'm not usually a fan of the whole time travel, alt. universe thing and most of it was predictable - but they did finish it on a great end note and some of the middle was vaguely cool.

The sun one was horridly predictable to anyone whos played elite or prolly other related space games tho heh.
