The New Stargate Universe Thread

As i said on another forum, sg u sucks so much ass its painful. I love sci fi and enjoyed sg1 but not so much of sga and this new one which i thought would be cool like st voyager its just boring as hell with character development, the latest episode had a xxx fight and xxx but still kinda sucks imo. The ship is dull, theres no wonder theres no discovery after quite a few episodes now in the season we still are pretty clueless about the ship and anything exciting about it.

So far its just a space prison some rooms, occasional sg usage and even then there all crap planets which in future will be same old village or somit from most of the back of sg shows they did. Very rare will we see normal cities or futuristic planets.

Probably soon or have we already got one, a alien thats gona be their adversary. And they probs be strong then get to be pussies by the end of the show.

I had high hopes but this show sucks, the actors are crap, the ship is crap, theres nothing really happening except squables between the crew its just a boring crap mess.

Thank god for family guy, simpsons, american dad, cleaveland show etc to entertain me sa they are so much better to watch than this show right now.

i wish they would do stargate 2. :(

There's not enough stargate franchise to keep you happy? :p
I'll take pretty much any stargate, I'm glad they have another series going or we'd have none.

As for these people complaining it's just the same as the old stuff, well it's stargate what do you expect? It's scifi.

You can get space travel, gate travel, possible new aliens in the future, new worlds, lasers pew pew, a new story arc, or nothing. But people complain still! I'm not sure what people expect within the realms of reality.

Essentially every sci-fi is the same, good guys, bad guys, technology, pew pew.
But I like pretty much all of it.

Well you obviously hate the show, why are you in the thread lol.

Did you even read the synopsis of the series before it started airing? It's nothing like Voyager, and im glad its not, that comment surprised me tbh as ive seen more people saying that they don't want it like voyager rather than the reverse.
its just boring as hell with character development,
I think the majority of fans would rather have characters developed than not at all, all action makes for a pretty bland show, although its also true for the opposite

No comment for risk of spoilers but lol

Thats kind of one of the main points of the show, the mystery about the ship. No discovery? I disagree. We've found out it can fly into stars, We've found theres a predecessor to the ancient respository of knowledge onboard (the chair), We've seen its weapon systems, we've explored its shuttles. Its a massive spaceship, they aren't going to have explored it entirely in 10 episodes lol. There will be more areas explored (the 1.5 trailer showed some sort of greenhouse iirc) Also as Joseph Mallozzi stated on his blog, whats in Ancient Crate number 1?

Just as a comparison, look back to Atlantis, very few of the episodes in the first season were focused on actually exploring the city itself (5-6 episodes featured proper exploration iirc). It took time to find out things. I don't want them to have everything on a platter as soon as they arrive onboard, now that would most certainly make for a boring show

A bit of an assumption tbh, They've only explored 3-4 planets. Granted ill agree the desert planet and hoth were pretty dull, but the jungle planet for the Episode 'Time' was fantastic, and the critters that came with it. As for the same repeated human village? Its pretty safe to say that won't be happening at all, considering the ship is several billion lightyears away from any human population.
As for futuristic cities and planets? Who knows? To be fair it probably will be pretty rare because doing stuff like that costs a fair amount of money, although i did see a massive alien spire in the 1.5 trailer

Who knows what will happen, i guess we'll just have to wait and see for the episdoes to air. Although if you're expecting them to be like the Wraith or Goa'uld then producers have stated that won't be the case

I have no idea what show you've been watching. Imo some of the actors like Robert Carlye, David Blue, Ming Na and Lou Diamond Philips have given some terrific performances imo,

Thank god for family guy, simpsons, american dad, cleaveland show etc to entertain me sa they are so much better to watch than this show right now.
I guess SGU isn't for you if you hold lackluster cartoons in a higher regard.

I thought it was the best one tbh, along with the one were they get stuck on the planet overnight and can't dial out that was quite good.

Is that discussion of an un-aired episode I see? Please don't, it would be a shame to see this thread locked after it doing so well.

Who me? about the overnight planet one? thats already aired in the UK so everyone in this thread has seen it.

And about unaired UK episodes, is it alright to say that you have seen it aslong as you don't talk about it?

What's the point in saying you've seen it and no more? Just so you can feel smug?

Unfortunately I'll be out learing to paddle a kayak in a straight line that night, so I vote for no talking about it until thursday! :p

PK!

Smug,:p I didn't say any more about it because it hasn't been aired the UK, and I wouldn't have said anything it no one asked 'has anyone seen it' :p

I think it must have been Sunama who said something but he edited his post so I'm not so sure now...

Anyways, apologies but I don't want to be moaning about stuff like this, frankly it doesn't bother me. What would bother me is the thread getting locked, again.

From reading the rules it doesn't explicitly say anything about not being allowed to mention you've seen the show, only the discussion of the show so I'd imagine "OMGWTFBBQ I've seen SGU 1x11 !!!!111!!!!1" would be okay but "OMGWTFBBQ I've seen SGU 1x11!!!!111!!!!1 and it was epic lolz" probably wouldn't be. You'd need Big Kev to give a definitive answer on the subject or just play it safe and not mention the show at all until it airs.

Wasn't the intention to make 3 originally but lack of funds stopped any more films being made.

how many times have i heard "lack of funds" to stop things :\ its getting a boring excuse...

why not make up something " Oh the stargate was real and it blew up"

There's constantly rumours that Roland Emmerich will make another but hopefully it won't come to pass. I think the original is brilliant but I feel it would be a bit of a throwback now to go back to that storyline.

With regards to the tv films it doesn't look like they're going to happen either. I remember when Atlantis was canceled one of the conciliatory offers made by the studio was that Stargate: Extinction was going to provide a fitting end to Atlantis.

MGM is in a heap of trouble money wise at the moment though I believe so all of the tv show movies are on hold indefinitely which is a shame.
