It's an improvement for sure but is it just me or does anyone else feel like they keep missing good story paths to take? like how Rush was found by aliens when really he should have fixed the crashed ship and shown up around the same time as the aliens started attacking and perhaps help save the day then later causing problems for Young by explaining what happened on the planet.
Rush's character doesn't really seem the type to come in guns blazing to save the day. Also he wouldn't have had any indication of where the Destiny is even if he did have the ship. A galaxy is a big place.
If you watch at the end the first thing Rush says when hes back onboard is 'what did the Colonel say happened?' so he could be up to speed on the 'cover story'. If he told everyone the true story, the truth about how he tried to fame Young for murder they would have both lost, so he made sure he stuck with the lie
the next episode after space 'Divided' deals with some of the fallout from that whole 'incident
They keep doing things different than i would expect, another one was when Rush took the stones at the beginning and later simply just gave them up, he should have kept them secret for the first half of the show so they had no contact with earth, then later got revealed in some sort of emergency or other interesting story.
He may well have done that if 'he' had brought the stones in the first place. But considering that a) it was Young that brought them at great personal risk and b) he was witnessed by t.j. i believe swiping the backpack with the stones in in the confusion when they first boarded the destiny it would have been hard to hide them. Also who's to say he didn't pocket or hide any himself?
Also the reason he gave them up was to gain kudos points, hence why he claimed to have brought them. The entire group of evacuees were pretty ****** at him for just stranding them on the ship, he needed leverage i.e. the stones. He was already in enough trouble without them finding out that he possibly hid them or disposed of them, which would have been incredibly stupid anyway due to their usefulness for communication.
