The New Stargate Universe Thread

Space was much better it's true - still can't believe chloe stared up into that whole they cut to get in ... How stupid do you have to be!
Some interesting theories regarding the ease with which they escaped ... Rush as always knows more than he's letting us believe.

Lol thats the massive flaw that everyone has with the episode at Chloes stupidity. It was a pretty dumb thing to do.

As for how they escaped..tune in to the next episode ;).

Actualy really enjoyed it.

Nothing can beat the Siege episodes from ending S1 on SG Atlantis though, with the Deadalus turning up for some fun :D

I think those "siege" episodes were split in 3 parts. Indeed, they were epic.

I've quite liked the start to season1, part2 of SGU. Its pretty good.

I think some people were expecting a complete change in pace to the show, but this was never going to happen and probably never will. For what it is, I think SGU is growing on me, especially now that an external enemy has shown itself.

It's an improvement for sure but is it just me or does anyone else feel like they keep missing good story paths to take? like how Rush was found by aliens when really he should have fixed the crashed ship and shown up around the same time as the aliens started attacking and perhaps help save the day then later causing problems for Young by explaining what happened on the planet.

They keep doing things different than i would expect, another one was when Rush took the stones at the beginning and later simply just gave them up, he should have kept them secret for the first half of the show so they had no contact with earth, then later got revealed in some sort of emergency or other interesting story.

Rush's character doesn't really seem the type to come in guns blazing to save the day. Also he wouldn't have had any indication of where the Destiny is even if he did have the ship. A galaxy is a big place.

If you watch at the end the first thing Rush says when hes back onboard is 'what did the Colonel say happened?' so he could be up to speed on the 'cover story'. If he told everyone the true story, the truth about how he tried to fame Young for murder they would have both lost, so he made sure he stuck with the lie

the next episode after space 'Divided' deals with some of the fallout from that whole 'incident

He may well have done that if 'he' had brought the stones in the first place. But considering that a) it was Young that brought them at great personal risk and b) he was witnessed by t.j. i believe swiping the backpack with the stones in in the confusion when they first boarded the destiny it would have been hard to hide them. Also who's to say he didn't pocket or hide any himself?

Also the reason he gave them up was to gain kudos points, hence why he claimed to have brought them. The entire group of evacuees were pretty ****** at him for just stranding them on the ship, he needed leverage i.e. the stones. He was already in enough trouble without them finding out that he possibly hid them or disposed of them, which would have been incredibly stupid anyway due to their usefulness for communication.

Just watched the new episode, this is much better - keep that up and I'll forgive them the largely dull first set of episodes. Was nice to see lots of Lt James' ample front facing turrets stuffed in a tight t-shirt again too :D

I also noticed this. Well, it was difficult not to notice it. :D

The makers of the show are pushing Chloe as the lady who all men desire, but I think they are backing the wrong horse.

Ok it's gotten better. Mainly because (and writers should take note), something actually happened :p
Still, the fact that only Eli and Rush are remotely interesting/likable continues to be a bit of a downer.
The Stargate shows weakest elements were always the characters (imo) but I think this takes the biscuit. I particully hate "thug with a gun who likes to shoot stuff" greer. But Young is awful too.

I quite liked that episode... there must have been a better way to get back than cutting a hole in the ship though... they could have used it again, like by killing two birds with one stone and 'cremating' the shuttle that that old guy was in and using the bay there to land.

I also think there's more they could have done with the whole Rush situation... seem to have missed out on a chance there. They didn't really make clear how much time had passed, or how he had managed to somehow catch up to Destiny.
