The New Stargate Universe Thread

Talking of StargateSG1, I've just finished watching (again) seasons 9 and 10 of SG1. They were terrific seasons and I have no idea why people don't like them. The final few episodes of Season10 were epic.

They are good, but not as good as RDA was in it :(

I would have liked the Ori storyline to have had more time to it, its a shame it came to a very abrupt end, even with the Ark of Truth to cap it off (who replicators why, serious, wtf)

I think the high point for me with SG1 really was season 7-8.

I think Atlantis capped at Season 3 which had some great episodes tbh.

I think some had enough of SG1 going to some mud-ridden medieval village to look for a scroll/stone/artefact that would lead to a mysterious/hidden super weapon. I enjoyed it though but preferred Anubis to the Ori.

Having recently watched series 1-10 back to back with it all fresh in the mind, we found series 9-10 to be hideously crap. The only episodes we liked are the ones without the ori, that had the clone Goulds.

I didn't mind RDA going, they just replaced him like for like.

You didnt like the last episode of Season10 (Unending)?
For me, that ranks as one of the best episodes ever.

It was good but not necessarily the best.

For me it would probably be either "Full Circle", "Reckoning" (the last half of season 8 was pure epicness :D) or "A Matter of time.

So many great episodes though it's hard to choose just one.

Still, if there's one thing Stargate always used to nail, it was the season finales from the end of season 1 with the Goa'uld on the verge of invading Earth to the invasion of the replicators and the battle over the Arctic not to mention the great season endings/openings of Atlantis.

I fear SG:U will end with someone finding out they're pregnant :(

"Window of Opportunity" clearly

I think the show still has plenty of potential and time, I agree with one of the previous comments also about atlantis not being fully explorer they did a far bit though but it then sorta boiled down to sg1 action :)

Hopefully with destiny the charactors come into there own and we start getting some good episodes, its very different too SG1/Atlantis and perhaps it needed to be !

It was quite funny but didn't rank as one of the best for me. Best episode of the series by far though.

I would have liked to see atlantis run for longer, I feel it had a bit more life in it.

Ah come on - hope that's not dropping in a spolier quip?

It's not a spoiler (at least I don't think so), just a foregone conclusion.

If you thought Teyla's baby story was bad wait until it happens on SG:U.

Well last nights episode was very, very good. I think it's probably the first one I've truly enjoyed so far.

The use of countdowns throughout though was kind of annoying ie. they just got the shuttle clamped in the nick of time, Young and Greer just got inside the ship in the nick of time and Destiny jumped into FTL in the nick of time.

I have to say that so far I have enjoyed the second part of the season much more than the first. I thought last weeks episode was good in that we finally got some action and an adversary other than lack of resources, and last nights episode had some good tension and was fun to watch - nothing like some open-chest surgery whilst being fired on by three alien warships :p

I think that the network made a bad mistake to put such an extended break between the two halves of the series, as the first half was all about setting up characters and relationships so was invariably slow at times. The second half though seems to have picked up the pace now that the scene has been set, and looks as though it should be very enjoyable.

I just hope the ratings haven't been damaged by the mid-season break.
