The New Stargate Universe Thread

I really feel that the show is better without the communication stones. I find it's too much of a get out of jail free card, like when SG1 got beaming technology and could suddenly get beamed out every time they were in trouble. I don't know why they're concentrating on Camile and Michelle Dessler so much other than because the writers think it's cool to have lesbians on the show.

I'm waiting for Robert Knepper to try to take over the ship or something equally nefarious. Prison break on destiny?

I agree. I really don't like the communication stone episodes.

And, damn you for mentioning Michelle Dessler! I love her lol.

I don't really care about the communication stones. I do agree with other posters though, lose the crap Lesbian story line (unless you're actually going to show them going at it) and show more technology and alien encounters.

The last episode was just filler, which is frustrating.

I just really don't like the Lucian Alliance as a whole in the Stargate franchise. They're just such a crap/boring baddie. At least the Ori story-arc had suspense!

Another filler type episode with more imaginary stuff. :/

First time in SGU I've said, oh its one of those episodes ...

Did absolutely nothing in terms of moving the plot forward, what was the point of the episode?

Why did Scott hallucinate the crew as his family, what was the meaning of this? Hopefully next week I'll have some answers!

I think this was a stand alone episode, so its highly unlikely they will even mention the hallucinations of Scott, in any upcoming episodes. Why would they?

One thing that did move the plot forward is that Chloe has now "infected" Scott, with her illness.

There's too much exploration of the characters and hardly any of the ship and planets, i don't know if its just me but i remember a lot more happening in SG-1 and Atlantis?

We could do with some of this, i mean they are on a ship after all. :p

No but really i just want something a little more interesting to happen, i've had enough of the imagination land stuff, im thinking the lucian alliance should have done a better job taking over, maybe then we would have had something more interesting to watch.

In the past when the crew have had flashbacks, or hallucinations its help explain why the characters are the way they are.

Scott being raised by a Priest, Greer's Dad beating him up, it helped you understand the characters and move the plot forward.

I see your point about Scott being infected now though, but I still think the episode was a bit meh. And I have liked every single episode so far :D

But they are rubbish, especially the latter.

Universe appeals to a broader audience. Although they do seem to be rushing the story line.

theres a storyline? just seems to be a bunch of filler episodes you could probably recap each of them with a single sentence without leaving out much

Well thats a matter of opinion, i think they were both great shows for the most part up until perhaps later seasons, however when it comes to action and story they had a lot more going for them i think, some of the cliffhangers were amazing, lost city in SG-1 and the siege in Atlantis come to mind as whats possible, SGU's incursion episodes were reasonable but got resolved all too quickly and easily when season two started, quite disappointing in comparison.

do you like vampire diaries , dawsons creek , glee , small ville , gossip girl , entourage etc?

are you female? double check on that one :P

They aren't rushing the storyline at all tbh. I think thats one of its flaw atm, it's just going at a snails pace, and tbh it does seem to have allot of filler. Some it it has been good, but allot of it has been very 'meh'.

SG1 and Atlantis had some great bits, no show will ever be perfect and i don't think either broke any boundaries in storytelling. SG1/Atlantis did deal with themes such as religion/false worhship and responsibility well imo. It is all a matter of opinion in the end, some will see a show as stupid and unrealistic (thats your choice), others will just enjoy it for what it is, without wanting it to be anything else.
