No ban on gambling sponsors has even been announced yet, let alone a date. There's been calls for it to be banned for years but as yet nothing's happened and it's no surprise that Everton have just announced their new shirt sponsor today and it's a betting company.

Newcastle have had this betting company and before that a pay day loan company on the front of the shirts for the last ten years. The lure of dirty money in one of the countries most impoverished regions there long before the Arabs rolled into toon.

It's not just Newcastle, it's the same for all but the top 6 clubs. A marketing company done a report on the value of shirt sponsorships and they basically concluded that for all but the biggest clubs, on average a club could earn twice as much from a betting sponsor as they could from a non betting sponsor. These betting firms are making a fortune out of football and the money on offer from them is too good for a lot of clubs to turn down.

By the time any ban has been put on gambling sponsors they'll be replaced by crypto firms anyway. We've already seen clubs sign deals in this area, with Chelsea already landing a reported £20m per year sleeve sponsorship from one of these companies and there's reports that Liverpool have held talks over a new front of shirt sponsor too. There will be people that argue otherwise but I'm not sure crypto is any better than gambling.

Yeah totally, can't blame the clubs at all but Newcastle's deal is reportedly worth 6.5m per year which is well below what a team with that exposure should get imo. Personally think crypto is worse as its easier manipulated by the rich however it hasn't caused decades of damage to people and their families. Yet!

I believe we have a sleeve sponsor lined up.

Seen some interesting ideas about stadium development. From the guy that does all the big stadiums.

Strawberry Place could be up for sale again since the company went bankrupt.

Biggest problem is Leazes Terrace but he talked about away to get around this is to build up and enclose Leazes in an arcade.

The mock ups looks pretty sweet.

Gambling sponsorship is kind of worse than crypto in the sense that it is leveraging a natural association to football. Crypto is really just another random sponsor to ignore whereas betting site X is where you might be tempted to go to have a punt on the match you are watching or the team you support.
