The **Now Drinking** Thread

Why does Glen buy good stuff ? ;)

You tried Ketel One mate verrrrrry smooth :D

I actually find Glen's mixes very well. Not a fan of Smirnoff as a mix and feel mixing 'premium' vodkas a bit of a waste. I have a bottle of Zubrowska and Grey Goose that I only ever drink when drinking vodka straight, though I find Grey Goose a bit too smooth. I like to taste my alcohol.
Never tried Ketel, but suspect it'll be the same story as Goose. Though, feel free to send me up a bottle. ;)

Are you drunk? I have no idea what you're jabbering on about... But, send me a message through trust and I'll email you my address for a bottle. ;) (I'm hoping you're drunk...)

lol no matey Im not drunk (yet) as for sending you a bottle you're gonna have to wait till my next drinks order goes in.

Aceface, I appreciate what you're saying but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I know better than to like Tennent's but there's just something about an unchilled can of it that agrees with me. It's probably living so close to the factory, they probably put something in the fumes to get you hooked! I'm not a big fan of it out of a tap though, but mainly because it's so sodding cold. Hate really cold lager.
Fuller's are a great brewery, did their tour some years ago. Lovely beers.

Currently drinking - Tennent's. ;)
A very popular beer here in northern ireland, id say that 95% of the pint drinkers in my local pub are tennents drinkers. Not that keen on the draught, but the cans arent bad. I can remember years ago when they had pics of scantily clad ladies on the tins.:D

A quick pic of what was I given as a thank you for helping someone out. Already finished the Very Nutty Black and onto the Liberation now.

Going to be a good night me thinks :D

Really? I'm surprised, figured Harp would be the common thing. We have Harp in a few Irish pubs over here and I've been told from a friend from Belfast that that is the 'Irish Tennent's'. Heading over to Norn Iron in Feb so will have to see if it tastes the same ;). There's a pub in Glasgow, The Butterfly And The Pig, that has a bunch of old cans (unopened), including the scantily clad versions iirc, on top of their bar which is quite cool.

On topic - Just polishing off a can of Tennent's I had with dinner, moving back onto the Vodka and Tonics soon though.

Dirtyjester - well don't forget you're good pal Ahleckz. :D

lol I won't matey oh and yes Harp is a very popular beer in N.Ireland and naturally brewed I might add :) Now as for Tennents I also remember those scantly clad ladies (some where page 3 girlies at a time) but I also remember drinking Tennents SD .... cold lager with a creamy head .... man that stuff was gooood :D

Oh and still on Ketel One but now with just a splash of cranberry

think Tennants was the Uk's first lager but i dont like it either. minging lol. i used to live on duke st near the brewery as well.

Harp is a way better pint. Guinness hired some German brewmaster to come over after WW2 to come over and brew a lager for them. its nowhere near the quality of a german lager but not a bad sesh pint. Though im biased. if you want to taste a great pils and you can get a hold of it nothing will beat Rothaus pils. lovely!

though the harp you get in Glasgow is southern irish harp which is 5%. the norn irish harp is 4.2% i think.

I find it very hard to believe that Tennent's was the first lager. It was set up in 1885. Lager is a process, more than a name anyway but it's become diluted. Guinness didn't make Harp, it (or at least was) a separate company iirc.
I don't generally drink 'exotic' pils, as I don't really see the point. There's not much to them so would prefer to spend my money on other beers.

All Harp in the U.K. and Ireland is 4.0% . Eire (Southern Ireland) use to be 4.3% the only 5% Harp is Harp Export which is mainly exported to Canada :) (you lucky lucky sod) ;)
