I assume that this is for a present Ray?

The only Scottish brewery which I can think of which would do a decent, and interesting 60/70 or 80 shilling would be Orkney Brewery.
I've had a Wee Heavy from Alesmith before and I recall it being good. But you'll probably struggle to get hold of any.

Belhaven's 80 Shilling would probably be the best bet for something that is commonly available.

Edit
OH MY GOD. I totally forgot. Brewdog now do a Scotch Ale, called San Diego. If it's for a present then it'll be pretty special and they won't have had it before. Personally, I think that it sounds awful (oak aged and beer soaked raisins go into the fermenter...) but it says Scotch Ale on the box/bottle. Very different to anything I mentioned above.
Oh, Brewdog website sells Wee Heavy but it's £15 for 750ml. Their San Diego sells for £11.

Yeah, it's a present to an American :p

So, Brewdog Scotch Ale...can that be found most supermarkets?

If it's a present, then I really wouldn't bother with anything but that to be honest. Be a bit of a waste of time/money/effort sending anything else over. It's all a bit 'meh' to be honest. Plus, Scotch Ale is quite a broad description. Most people won't know what it is like they understand Porter (Stout), IPA or bitter for example.

Now, how are you actually going to get some. No, you won't find it in any supermarket. There'll be a shop in your city which sells some I'm sure. I'll be going into my booze shop tomorrow who should have it so I can check their price/availability. They'll sell over the phone (they don't do online sales) and send it to you. You could order from the Brewdog site direct but last time I checked their postage was lolworthy.

Let me check Tesco/ASDA online and see what they have for sale in terms of 'Scotch' ale. To clarify, you want something in the Scotch Ale style rather than a Scottish beer?

Edit - There doesn't seem to be any 'Scotch Ales' on Tesco/ASDA online though I'm sure I've seen Belhaven being sold in store before. If you are just after Scottish beers then buy whatever Brewdog and/or Innes and Gunn they have.

Wish i was in a Ramen Shop Counter
Scotch Ale is what I've been asked but anything would do, i mean if there is anything nice that is local to this country will also work :)

Obviously something more presentable gets bonus points.

Ta !

And yes, something easily accessible would be welcome, I don't want to spend loads on shipping to me only to need loads to send it over too.

I'll see if my shop has any of Brewdog's Scotch Ale in and ask how much it'll roughly cost to post when I go in tomorrow (gives me an excuse to pick something interesting up!). If I see any Scotch Ales, I'll let you know. I'm sure some of our Manchester (IIRC, that's where you are?) folk should be able to tell you of a decent beer shop though.

I really can't think of anything that you'll get in a supermarket I'm afraid. It's not really a popular type of beer over here.

Secret Santas: I hate rum/oak aged beer! So please don't buy me any. :D

You'll have difficultly finding a decent Scotch Ale in a non-specialist shop to be honest. My shop will post you the bottle if they have it, I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend. If it's just a couple of quid, get to a supermarket and buy some Innes and Gunn beers and William Brothers beers. They'll be Scottish if not Scotch ale and they probably don't have that over there.

No problem, I love talking about beer and getting people trying new stuff. :D

Whilst I dislike them, mainly because they are oak aged which I hate, I get that many people do. That being said, I don't think they are particularly good beers but they are Scottish and should be something a little bit different. I ALMOST bought one last night but just couldn't. I think I'm going to give up trying to make myself like them. Horses for courses!
Raymond, the shop I use have the Scotch Ale in stock. If interested, give me a shout through trust and I can pass their details onto you and they'll be able to post it out to you.

Also a coffee for me, thought about putting my CoCo pops milk into my coffee but thought better of it.
