The RGB full range toggle is new in these drivers, yes. You've been able to toggle it with a small third party program for years. It's amazing that it's taken Nvidia so long to implement such a simple feature really.

Surely you're connected by HDMI. Limited via DVI/DP (a dedicated monitor) is going to look messy.no limited by default.
After so many years with AMD I made the switch to the green team with my 2 970 reference cards and I have to say the noise and temperature of these things is nothing but pure magic!
Both cards at stock voltage and I've only upped the core clock and memory clock to +100 and not really sure how much further I can go but they're at 24c and 21c idle while at load not breaking 56c running Heaven bench mark.
One thing I have noticed though is the image and colour don't seem as sharp or as vibrant as my 290. Have I missed something in the control panel?
Forgot to add I'm connected via dual dvi I believe.
same here, open nvidia control panel and change rgb from limited to ful rgb, both amd and nvidia will look the same
Why is full RGB not set as default in Nvidia control panel?
