**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

After so many years with AMD I made the switch to the green team with my 2 970 reference cards and I have to say the noise and temperature of these things is nothing but pure magic!
Both cards at stock voltage and I've only upped the core clock and memory clock to +100 and not really sure how much further I can go but they're at 24c and 21c idle while at load not breaking 56c running Heaven bench mark.

One thing I have noticed though is the image and colour don't seem as sharp or as vibrant as my 290. Have I missed something in the control panel?

Forgot to add I'm connected via dual dvi I believe.
 
Ive heard a lot of users report the same that image is a bit less vibrant on nv cards compared to amd's. You could try messing around with digital vibrance in the nv control panel.

same here, open nvidia control panel and change rgb from limited to ful rgb, both amd and nvidia will look the same
 
Thanks OG just enabled that, one last question and I half promise I'll stop bugging you. I noticed in some games my monitor resolution shows as 2560*1440 59hz but used to show 60hz. Is this another option I've missed?

A specific example is Endless Legend.
 
Why would the default rgb setting be limited tho? Seems strange. Are colours better when set to full?

Does it matter that I'm using DVI?

This Nvidia forum post seems to suggest it's for HDMI users only.

Limited (Video RGB) = when your display works with pixel values 16-235. 16 is jet black, 235 is absolute white.

Full (sRGB) = When your display works with pixel values 0-255.

I'd like to think that the driver establishes that the computer is connected to a TV (HDMI) then auto-configures to Limited.

If you set your driver to Full although using a 16-235 display you'll see jet black pixels where the driver intended for dark greys (1-16) and absolute white pixels although the intention was bright greys (235-254). You'll see colours that are brighter and also darker than intended.

It might look like the contrast is enhanced but you'll actually be losing colour detail: a dark, folded cloth with creases and self-shadowing will just look plain black.

Using Limited on a 0-255 display, on the other hand, will reduce contrast dramatically.

Any one played around with the MFAA settings?

From what I understand it is similar to using MSAA but at a lower cost.

With MFAA set in control panel, when you set MSAAx2 you get the same IQ as MSAAx4 but only at the cost of using MSAAx2 etc....

What happens if game max is MSAAx8 and you set it to that?
