**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Still no crashes in Chrome and played FarCry 4 last night for two hours no crashes.
Drivers seem good to me.

Can all the people complaining about Chrome crashing state what they were doing in Chrome when it crashed so we can see the common denominator. I must be not doing something in Chrome others are.

Was browsing Overclockers! LOL

Also it is fine in version 350

I had only had 353 installed for an hour or so and I had a crash. Also I could not get any sort of stable Overclock for Fire Strike. Roll back to 350 and all is well again.

i was just browsing normal stuff, this forum the shop, my emails. i am not doing the same thing every time, its just general chrome browsing. i only needed to have chrome open in the background and it would still crash.

i cant believe the nvidia rep has come here skipped 50% of the post and then mentioned about some Gsync windowed mode bug that tbh since i have been reading about this bug i havent seen mentioned once. ignore it and it doesnt exist?

Crashed in bf3, :(

Judging by the amount of people who are now crashing with the new drivers it's obvious what's happened.
AMD users aren't getting drivers out because Nvidia have taken AMD's driver team and hired them as their own.

I think I'm gonna roll back my drivers to 350 as they seem to work the best for me.

Yay!!!

Can we sort out the random crashes with Chrome??

The only stable driver I can use is 350, it's great.... 352,353 are not good....

Question for all about shadowplay.

Some may know I have issues with GTA V and Elite with D3D driver crashes.

Since the latest version of GE, Shadowplay is locking my GPU at 1266 MHz at idle when it is enabled (I use desktop recording so it is always on)

However

I have an OC of 1366 MHz base, so it must be using my GPU Bios as reference. It is still boosting to 1497 at load, so the OC is working fine.

I don't remember it doing this.

Has it always locked the GPU clock when switched on???

This may have resolved my D3D crashes.... Still testing but 6 hours at a pretty decent OC and no issues.

Are you using adaptive or max performance mode for the power management setting in the nVidia drivers?

It's on adaptive.

Don'r get me wrong, this is resolving my driver crash issue with D3D which seems to be a voltage issue. With it locked, the card does not drop the clock speed and dump the voltage. This (hopefully) will prevent the driver crashes.

It's just I never remember it being locked when using shadowplay.

Not at all! I've already relayed this bug internally and will definitely keep you posted. :)

Try with max performance and see what happens :S

Hey everyone, we spotted an issue with windowed G-Sync and The Witcher 3 on specific configurations. We believe we've squished the bug and will be updating the driver this week.

Could you also encourage the driver team to implement some sort of tesselation control in the control panel? Thank you

OK

Something is going on.

When I have any window open, Anything, the clock sticks at 1266 MHz, even with my OC....

GPU Z reports a clock speed of 1366 Mhz, however in sensors, it is 1266 MHz

If I only have desktop the clock drops to 135 Mhz and voltage to .856

This is the suspected drop in voltage that may cause the D3D crashes....

I don't ever remember it sticking at base clock when idling...

Howwver I may be wrong

Glad to hear Nvidia know about this and are working on it. I thought they would as their own forums have plenty of complaints from people suffering the same sort of problems with chrome as many are here.

So far for me 350.12 has been stable again and no crashes even though I have been on chrome nearly all day. I don't know if I have the energy to try the other options in the 353.06 drivers as its such a hassle to install and delete them all.

Thing is surely my chrome does not crash, yours does. So how can you say its caused by the nvidia driver alone ?
Must be something else on your system causing it also that I dont have, even with going to previous nvidia releases.
Trying to say might be a combination of 3 things not just chrome and nvidia drivers.

Do you have GE installed ? I only have the driver and physx, no 3d drivers, no hdmi audio drivers, no GE.

I can say it's the nVidia driver alone because if I rollback to 350.12 it works fine, the 2 new drivers don't. I only install the driver and physx.

There's far too many of the same reports on the nVidia forums for it not to be a driver error.

Great to have an Nvidia 'rep' stopping by :)

I'd just like to emphasise - the last 2 driver releases have been plaugued with problems and crashes on the desktop for me - ie the "Display driver has stopped responding" issue

For me it's nothing to do with chrome either, and quite often opening the Nvidia control panel is the most likely culprit to cause it.

Long term Nvidia user here, and I know what I'm doing with regards to drivers and updating. Not had problems like this in many years :(

i have GE installed. i have been on the 350 drivers for about a week now and not had one crash since.

i dont have the HD audio drivers installed because they where causing another problem for me many months ago.

i only install 2 things from the drivers and its the GPU driver and the PhysX if its a newer version.

but surely nothing else on my system could be causing the "display driver" to fail/crash?

EDIT - it may not be chrome causing the crash either, it always happens when i am on chrome because i am either on chrome or in a game. most of the time i have a game open and chrome page minimised. they are the two constants in this issue. tbh my computer is not on if i am not browsing the internet or playing a game so...

I can say it is defo the drivers on my win 7 64 set up.

350 are very stable and rolling back to them, sorts out all my woes... The random crashing of drivers whilst in chrome, the inability to hold any sort of Overclock on my card and the 100% utilisation of the GPU when playing GTA V
on 350 it sits at 70-80% and runs flawlessly. 352 drivers, was unplayable and whilst 353 was good FPS, it was still 100%...

So for me, 350 is the last stable release.

Oh and no 3d or hd drivers installed. Just GE, Drivers and Physx

Stupid question maybe, coming over from AMD again and expecting delivery of my GTX 980Ti I downloaded the latest drivers but having read the last few posts regarding driver trouble I think I am best grabbing the last known stable ones (which seems to be 350).

What link on the Nvidia site can I use to get older drivers, I can only seem to find the latest 353?

EDIT: Nevermind I noticed tucked away in the top corner the Beta and Legacy drivers link.
