**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Stupid question maybe, coming over from AMD again and expecting delivery of my GTX 980Ti I downloaded the latest drivers but having read the last few posts regarding driver trouble I think I am best grabbing the last known stable ones (which seems to be 350).

What link on the Nvidia site can I use to get older drivers, I can only seem to find the latest 353?

EDIT: Nevermind I noticed tucked away in the top corner the Beta and Legacy drivers link.

Thats becuase those are the first drivers that support the 980ti.

For all we know it could be the Windows 10 reserve app and the new drivers ! :D
Or maybe its the release of the 980 ti it might not crash with that card its nvidia's way of trying to get us to upgrade...... :D
Maybe its because I have SLI? :D

Lets see if they fix it later this week as per the Rep.

I had 2 crashes yesterday, uninstalled then re-installed with GeForce Experience in express mode. All is well. Also just installed new SSD and fresh install of wins 8.1. Driver works perfect so far.

Will try GTA V once I reinstall everything back to this new drive. Takes awhile :(

I dunno about the rest of you but the new drivers seem ok to me. I use chrome and im on a 670 card and no crashes. I have only played xcom since i bought it the other day since installing the new drivers.

What i do wana ask tho is have those that do get crashes with chrome, have you checked your admin logs for event details u can google for the crashes. I know after i cloned my win 7 os from one ssd to another somehow i dunno how the audio driver was causing crashes bsod kinda stuff when i was browsing chrome. I thought it was a new gfx driver i was using but turned out it was my audio driver. Long shot i know but maybe check if it "could" be that by simply uninstalling and reinstalling ur audio driver. Which in my case was the unified drivers for a asus dg card. After that no crashes and nvidia drivers worked. Like i said long shot but couldnt hurt to look at it. Oh and i install my drivers via website and only install physx, driver, and GFE. Not the 3d or audio stuff.

Yer, I have not had a game crash in so long (once in GTA V weeks ago) with any of the newer drivers. Stable on desktop running Chrome with Hardware accelerated ticked and good performance. This is both on the TX and the 970. Windows 8.1 64bit pro with just doing the express install each time.

Maybe I am doing it wrong :D

Have you tried Farcry 4 Gregster? For anyone having issues with Farcry 4 previously, with the latest driver just had another black screen after about 30 mins of game play :(

The problem is OC cards undervolting when cycling back from a high to a low to a high power state.

And it's just some chips can tolerate being undervolted better so they don't crash and appear fine while others tdr.

This is difficult to demonstrate because it's not something you benchmark.

Am I understanding this right?

That is my understanding and what I have been testing.

I hold a constant 1266 clock speed now (shadow play on) and I don't get any crashes in GTA
If I remove the constant clock and the GPU is allowed to fluctuate with load, it will crash when recovering from a high low utilisation dip eg: 1266 MHz to 135 MHz to 1266 MHz in the game. My Volts go from 1.2 to .856 to 1.2 and that is when it crashes.
Holding a constant 1266 MHz clock mean there is no voltage drop.

I have 10 hours of GTA game play with a 1497 MHz OC and the games is fine as long as the clock does not drop below 1266. If I remove that and the card clocks as it should, the game will crash pretty soon with that high OC.

This will go for Elite as well and I will test at some point.

Of interest I have an ASCI of 69

Re installed latest drivers custom install, clean option ticked, disabled chrome acceleration and seems to be fine atm been running 2 hours + , before hand would have crashed in 5 mins max hope that was the issue :)

Edit seems not still crash's in games oh wel :(

Speaking of Witcher 3 and G-sync...

For some reason I get a weird grainy effect across the whole screen when I enable G-Sync in W3. It happens in the menu as well, but only if I have the FPS cap enabled. Weird O_o

I've not seen it happen in any other game so far.
