**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Running the latest certified Nvidia drivers with a slight OC on my already factory OC'd graphics card and only had one TDR in about 30 hours of game-play in Witcher 3 (Ultra with hairworks off). These problems that folks are having seem to be pretty random, as to what combination of components etc. give issues. My W7 system has got to be around 3 years old now, so lots of crud lying about. So never really sure if the old "try re-installing Windows" is really ever a solution.

Many times have i seen reinstalling windows as a sure way of dealing with issues, but ofcourse ive also seen the opposite. Depends on the owner of the machine and how much they like their bloatware/facebook games.

Less crashes than previously but BF4 still crashes twice a night, whether I have a browser open or not.
MSI AB made the whole rig so unstable it would crash in desktop when idling. Having more luck with precision.

Fair comments.

But personally I'd rather try and get to the bottom of a problem myself. Though if all else fails, then a re-install might be something to try :)

I've switched from an AMD 7970 to a GTX 980 as of this weekend.

I uninstalled my AMD drivers then used DDU to remove all traces. Turned PC off, removed 7970 and installed GTX 980, then turned on and installed the 'latest' Nvidia drivers off the site..

GTA V feels a bit choppy tbh, which I can't understand as I'm only at 1920x1200 res, and I've had one hard lock up at desktop where the image on the screen froze which doesn't scream CPU OC instability to me.

Thoughts?

A 980 should fly. Something not right on your end mate. Maybe even try to re-install your OS

There's a few folks on the NVIDIA forum with a similar issues on the 353.30 drivers. I would recommend 353.06 or 352.12.

Seems to be most complained about crashing on the NVIDIA driver forums.

Seems the most "stable" are the game ready 353.06 ones for 980Ti users.

Yeah I had a feeling it may be the cause of a lot of peoples problems. My W3 crashes, so I set a non-oc profile on my bios, booted with that, never get crashes anymore. GPU's not oc'd either.

I do know the game doesn't like any program that hooks into the game, so anything from overlays, to OC software like Afterburner that do have their own overlay parts. So I could see how some OC software might cause issues.

Although it seems on each newer driver the game get's even crashier.

Im having annoying issues with vsync again.. stutters every few second for a microsecond. If i do a quick turn in a game its even worse.. grrr!! Also adaptive vsync is straight out broken due to stutter issues..
