**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Thanks mate. Don't finish work until 10pm but I will check that when I get in. EVGA did say that it spuds faulty when I mentioned the idle temps and showed them pics. I don't have an issues sending it back even if they can re paste the card but I'm reluctant to do so myself incase I invalidate the warranty.

Looking at a pic I've got it appears it's set to normal.

RMA it mate. God knows what the previous owner has done to it. Could be a VBIOS change they used or it's just damaged and running hot at idle. It's not right that, if you have made sure nothing is using the graphics card when idle.

Thanks mate. I will check that switch on the card and see what it's set to, any idea what position it needs to be in? I don't recall seeing anywhere that explains it in the manual. I have tried various refresh rates that don't seem to make any difference. I think its highly unlikely I've got a virus as I've literally done a fresh Windows install the other day. I might just end up RMA'ing the card as planned with the higher idle temps. What's strange is the load temps seem bang on what other sites state for this card? It's just the idle temp that seems off. I will try and do another fresh install and see what it shows. Only things I have running are Logitech game software for my mouse and G920 wheel and GeForce experience that I can think of.

As Purgatory said I had a Classy but sold it for a Matrix, Purely for aesthetics :p

The idle temp i.e web browsing, No stressful loads, Never went over around 50'c with the fans running at zero but that was in a warm'ish room.

Will do mate better to be safe than sorry I think. Any idea how much special delivery to Germany is via Royal snail?

So i finally got round to installing the the drivers that fix the 144hz bug,

It seems it doesnt for me,im assuming its because i have a custom bios.Still get 1.025v, 1190hz core clock and 27% pwr usage(on a 300w bios!) at desktop in 144hz mode :(

Unless something's changed, you're usually better to use parcelforce over rm for European shipping. Thought evga now have a UK based rma centre ;)

They are trying to sort out for me to get it done within the UK but don't seem to be getting anywhere at the moment with being a weekend.

GeForce HotFix driver 361.60

This is a GeForce Hot Fix driver, version 361.60 that addresses the following issues:

Crashes in Photoshop & Illustrator
Install & clocking related issues

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3832

It addresses issue where memory clock speed was not running at full speed with certain apps/games.
The "Crashes in Photoshop & Illustrator" can fix BSOD in other apps as well if your issue was specific to driver 361.43.

Thanks, installed and all going smoothly so far :)

I've had my first black screen with these drivers. BF3 just cut off. Not had a crash in ages until I installed these. Same overclocks and everything. Before people say use DDU. Yes I always do when uninstalling and use the clean install option.

I follow this thread, but i dont understand why all the updates are needed all the time, i have like 50 to 100 games installed on my new pc i built like 6 months ago, and my drivers are exactly the same i installed on the first day of the new build, and all games work great, including the latest games i have bought, so why does everyone keep wanting to update the gpu drivers every other day ?

Newer drivers for aaa games will often give extra performance and game fixes. I myself don't tend to jump on every driver if what i am playing is stable with acceptable fps. This being OCUK though a lot of people like to test drivers to see if they gain performance in games and benchmarks. It's sort of like a hobby for most of us around here with a different level of tinkering depending on the user.

Ah i see, long as i get 60fps vsync on in my games, i dont worry about extra performance, and all my games work great, never needed a driver fix.

I mainly play POE and SWBF, with the new drivers it blacks screens on poe at various times but all ways end up with the system locking up if i don't quit to desktop.

But using the older drivers which are more stable for me i can't play swbf it forces me to update the drivers if i want to play it.

If it wasn't for those 2 games i wouldn't bounce between the drivers :( dam you Nvidia.

With how bad the drivers have been for me the last couple of times im even thinking about giving team red a try this time round.

ok this has happened twice now so it's more than a coincidence. I'm rolling back to the latest whql and will see if I can atleast play one round again.

Yer it is. It should still drop to around 800Mhz iirc but not 150Mhz like a single moni.

thanks, I need to see what I can do. I will try these hotfix drivers again but run cc cleaner as I suspect ddu doesn't clean the registry properly. (I hope)

edit - No ddu does a good job as there were no reg issues. Why do my idle clocks not kick in during desktop use?
