Here is some info from GPUZ @ idle. Memtest86 passed with flying colours.

Idle and you have 60'c+ temps

You're idling very high there mate. Try setting refresh rate to 120hz and 60hz and see what your idle is again.

Then also test to see if you get the same problem. Also Chrome is known to have issues with Nvidia drivers (they say they fixed it but some people still have the problem you have). Try Firefox too to rule out the GPU and PSU.

This is what I'm idling at and we have the same 980ti Classified. I also have Firefox open and internet explorer and Skype in a video call.

Also turn off debug mode once you have tested that, so the card goes back to it's stock oc configuration. Another thing worth trying is Windows 7 as a test to see if it causes the same problems, could be a windows 10 issue. I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64bit and have no problems with the same card, but again could be your PSU too, so worth waiting to check if that is the cause too when you get your new PSU. You have also made sure to install intel chipset drivers too ?

Thanks mate, any idea why the idle temp is so high? Would a PSU cause that? I've tried dropping the refresh rate and its made no difference. Re Chrome, I've tried Edge as well and I'm still getting the same problem.

Looking at your 3 images it's obvious why your temps are getting lower at idle. In the first one you are at full 3d clocks, in the second the clocks have dropped but they are still to high for idle and in the last one your clocks are in full idle. Your temps are still on the high side though. Something looks to be using your gpu at points heating it up.

Try having a look in task manager to see what's being used when the gpu clocks are spiking like this.

Reading about it probably was that xbox program as I assume it was for recording video.

YUP..^^

What case do you have the card in and how are the fans setup on the case ?

Also TheRealDeal the Classified turns off the fan at below 60c and takes a little time for the temps to come down to about 35c at idle, he may have been at higher clocks at the time and then went to idle so it will come down to lower than 49c (I noticed that too, just one step at a time to get him up and running right :) )

Yea I think you have him on the right track and that dvr for the xbox may have been using the gpu causing the spikes.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out as I'm getting really P****d off with it lol. Here is a pic of task manager now since turning off DVR, although I would be surprised if that was causing my crashes? I've got my EVGA 750W G2 due tomorrow so that will be going straight into my system. EVGA have said to check my power voltages which I've also included below but they seem fine?

Hi mate - case I'm using is the Corsair 300R. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...tower-case-black-cc-9011014-ww-ca-063-cs.html using standard case fans.

Can you take a picture of the case inside. Also leave gpuz open and let it idle for 15 mins then state the temps. With no other programs open apart from gpuz. Your idle temps should be 35c to 40c.

No worries..I assume the fans don't spin under 60? They are not spinning at all at present...

Close the chrome processes and same for Nvidia experience and any other program that is not related to windows OS, eg skype, just dont close anything saying intel or driver related.

Then check the idle temps again.

Also :P

:D

When you get the new PSU I would cable manage that and give it a good dusting too. Apart from that the case looks fine mate and if you are saying with case open and it's in the 50's it's something else not the case, but I would get some side fans for that case and fill up the fan areas to get better air flow.

OHHH i see something you did that is not good, dont use the same pci-e cable to power both 8 pins for the classified, use the 2nd cable to power the 2nd 8pin not the bit that comes off the single cable. Run 2 PCI-E 8pin cables to the GPU. That can cause power issues too.

LOL - will do mate. So should I still be RMA'ing the card if it's idle at those temps? Just concerned that the DVR thing was crashing it and it's not actually a hardware issue? I assume an iffy PSU woudn't cause idle temps to rise? Not sure whether to send the PSU back or not or whether to RMA the card.

So i see your case comes with a front intake and a rear exhaust. Do you have any fans mounted to the side door?

Edit: as above i would add in some extra fans probably a side and a top.

From reading a bit you can potentially add in 5 extra fans with 2 on the side, 2 on top and an extra at the front. If you do so make sure to get some quiet ones as it could sound pretty loud with all of them fans.

Thanks, I actually only altered that this morning I will revert back to using two separate cables. :)
