**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Sounds good, although some people might experience coil whine, excess heat and fan noise. I see a lot of people thinking that Vsync is some sort of solution for heat and noise when in actual fact it's just throttling the card back to the monitor refresh rate.

It's not throttling the card back. It's not putting it under as much load in the first place which does reduce temperatures and therefore, fan speeds.

Yes, throttling wasn't the best word to describe it. I don't see it as a solution for noise and heat, airflow is where the solution lies there.

If Fastsync takes off then the card will surely be working flat out (as it should be, IMO). It'll be interesting to see how that works out in terms of performance V heat/noise as in, will it be worth it.

Doesn't really affect me as I have Hybrid cooling so temperatures rarely go past 50-55°C.

But I can see why people might use V-sync if they only have 60hz monitors. V-Sync doesn't work too bad so long as triple buffering is supported .

When I was running a 1080p 60Hz panel running my card with adaptive v-sync enabled it was a big help with regards noise and heat as the card is not having to render a load of wasted frame on a 60hz monitor, plus it gives to a more consistent frame-rate, i just don't see the point of wasting extra rendering power on a 60hz screen.

Yes, that's pretty much the point I'm making/question I'm asking... will Fastsync make it worth it?

Well it depends on how much extra performance is used by having it enabled, I'm not sure yet if it will equal the same as if you were to render the extra frames above 60, but if it did equal the same heat/noise output then personally I probably wouldn't use it if I had a 60Hz monitor as I really didn't detect much input lag when I was hitting v-sync cap.

FPS and it has to be off for me. Most other things and it's ok on.

When you restart your machine, do you find that V-Sync automatically switches itself on? For me, this has been happening a while, even before I bought my new screen. No idea why it does it...

Is anyone getting intermittent black screens at all? I have changed my outputs recently as well to the Rift using HDMI and am having to use a Startech DP to HDMI adapter to connect to tv (living room pc) so unsure if it is a driver issud or a possible problem with either the adapter, dp port or even the hdmi cable.
