So im still having trouble with high idle clocks even after going back to drivers i know werent a problem, so figured id try the new drivers and it still happens. Weird thing ive accidentally discovered though is if i view a picture in windows viewer and close it the clocks go back to idle as normal....
I have had the same issue for 18 months now, with a 970 and a now a 980ti.At desktop with 144hz i get a core clock of 963mhz,3506mhz mems with 31% power usage, even with the absolute bare minimum open from a fresh boot.
Its pretty annoying, not a single driver has fixed the issue, just given up and run 120hz on desktop.Just idling and the gpu sipping a 100w just isnt worth it for the extra 24hz
