**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

The main thing that comes to mind when I hear things like this is, did you format Windows before sticking an AMD card in? I always format before switching from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa, never have issues. Surely it cannot be PEBCAK as sugested by Humbug as you are competent enough to build a custom cooled PC. Apart from that it must be bad luck :(

What? you reinstall everything when you switch GPU? That hasn't been needed since windows 7 was launched. You can even swap motherboards now without issues. Reinstalling the operating system when changing hardware is a hold over from the days of XP and older operating systems.

It might not be PEBKAC or bad luck, it might be all down to perception. People tend to be a lot more tolerant of issues for a brand they prefer, whether it be mobile phones, cars or graphic cards.

Not like I change hardware often, so not an issue. I even enjoy doing a format roughly once a year. Back in Windows 98/XP days, it would be 2-3 times a year as HDD would really slow down and I wanted peak possible performance. Since SSDs and as you say Windows 7, not much need, but it is habit I suppose. Does not take long anyway if you know what you are doing and multi task while doing it ;)

Oh and yes, perception I do believe plays a lot into it. Like even Chris admits he won't be going SLI again which means drivers did not work to satisfaction presumably, yet he is happy with Nvidia after spending a large amount of money on second Titan X and being let down and will be sticking for his next GPU purchase.

Okay lets start with the obvious stuff first. Which version of the driver are you trying to install and have you gone back to any other driver versions and tried those (I am guessing you have probably covered this). Did you have any issues with the card prior to the driver update (Overheating etc..) Have you tried a windows re-install? Have you done a google on possible issues with the current driver? Have you tried a different download of the same driver? (Could be corrupted download).

Any screenshots of any errors you could put up?

well its the latest driver....ie the game ready driver put out today ( cant do a roll back as I did a uninstall with DDU), and the GeForce download I got from Nvidia's website ( as I always do ) , plus its an upgrade of windows 10 Home...but the problem was an issue before that .

Screen Shot

thats what we get when we try to run any game/s

mmm not sure what to make yet as only tried bf1 so far, in one map I got drops lower than I have before for some reason, average fps wasn't as great as I have had in the past either but on the second map I tried it wasn't to bad at all, need to try a few more games to see what I think really as bf1 hasn't been that great for me since the last couple of updates.

You could always try a system restore to a previous point.

Well i went back to 376.33, for some reason the latest driver takes control of all my pwm fans connected to the mobo :s. Very uncomfortably loud to game with.

dont use DDU its not needed.

sounds like the current nvidia install is broken bad

download an older driver run a full clean install in safe mode if necessary

its very strange how people have totally different things happen with nvidias last few drivers as my fans havnt changed at all, defo got worse frames on the first bf1 map I tried though but like I said I havnt had very good performance on that game for a while now
