**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Is the image quality noticeably better? That hit isn’t too bad if it’s still in a playable FPS range but you’re getting noticeably better IQ.

By the sounds of it you can also drop down a bit on the DLSS setting and it will still be an improvement over quality on the old model.

Is it worth the trade off?

Need to do my own proper testing regarding image quality, but from what I've seen others reporting on the Tubes, Transformer model at performance level looks as good if not better than CNN Quaility level, so you effectively get back the peformance loss. And the biggest thing is it gets rid of almost all ghosting/ trails, which is a huuuge issue with path tracing, like in Cyberpunk. Ray Reconstruction is also better.

If the new drivers help make up the loss it should also help. 40 series and up people have nothing to worry about, it's all very good stuff with minimal performance hit.

Keep us posted. Hopefully picking up a 3080 TI soon so I'll check it out as well (Cyberpunk also on sale for a couple more days on Steam).

im just using dlss swapper for that, especially since the new update where you can manually add games and change the FG version too, the only reason the app would be nice is if it lets you set the new transformer model too but i would rather have less nvidia crap installed than more

Is dlss override per game going to be working on this release then? I haven’t installed nvidia app yet and from the comments here it’s not currently working

Nvidia - Yes. We will be releasing a new driver and an update to NVIDIA App with the RTX 5090/5080 launch that enables this feature and more.

It's been released. It works in only a handful of games I have so far, it seems - most show as not supported, even though they have DLSS 3. Once again, 3rd party software does way better job with DLSS swaps and profiles changes than their own app. And there's also driver-based FG that's locked to only 5k series.

It does that but most games seem to be not supported currently, so there's that.

NVIDIA 572.16 driver

NVIDIA’s GeForce Driver 572.16 introduces valuable optimizations for guru’s who rely on the latest hardware. With support for GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080, this driver extends DLSS 4 capabilities to various current and upcoming games, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Star Wars Outlaws. Guru’s working on demanding projects beyond gaming may also benefit from DLSS 4’s advanced upscaling features, which can help balance performance and image quality. Additionally, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II are compatible with these enhancements, reflecting NVIDIA’s continued effort to refine real-time rendering for diverse workloads.

Fixes in this release address flickering on G-SYNC Compatible monitors when frame rates dip below 60FPS. Micro-stutters found in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, specifically when G-SYNC was turned on and Vertical Sync was off, have also been reduced. Games built on Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine may experience improved stability, minimizing the frequency of crashes. Guru’s who regularly use Evernote, QQ, or Asus Armoury Crate could see decreased CPU usage, and 3D artists employing Blender Cycles should notice improved accuracy with motion blur. The driver likewise resolves a previous Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) issue that occurred in KeyShot2024 during scene loading. These updates, combined with compatibility for CUDA 12.8, suggest a focus on refining both gaming and professional production environments for guru’s who demand consistent performance.

Despite these improvements, some issues remain. Changing the “Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area” might only take effect after a system reboot. Certain tests on Blackwell GPUs in VRay 6 have shown reduced performance, indicating ongoing optimizations are needed. NVIDIA also references a GeForce RTX 5090D model, though complete performance details and availability information have not been fully disclosed. As a precaution, guru’s are advised to read the official documentation and confirm that third-party software settings align with driver updates.

The NVApp based DLSS model and model switcher is nice but it does not seem to work with all games as some dropdowns are greyed out like in Stalker that has frame gen and DLSS SR. I think I will continue to use the manual method and using global base profile for Preset J in profile inspector going forwards unless they rejig it in the app since there is no global option for model reset in NV app and you have to go into each game individually to update it.

FWIW, VRR flicker is NOT resolved, I knew it was too good to be true,m this is a display issue with current gen OLEDs and not something they would have solved in driver I'm pretty sure anyway.

What I find weird is that the AW2725Q is validated as gsync compatible whilst the AW3225QF I'm pretty sure is still not officially validated.
