I goto say am starting to wonder if some of these outside images we have seen were doctored slightly, as said the scenery in the distance is rather dissapointing, really low quality textures.

Hmmm. Weird.

Y'see I'd have probably said you're right (I'm not saying you're wrong obviously!), but you've a valid point about 'touched-up' screenshots. But what about the FMV that's flying around, that does look stunning stuff.
 
I have a 26" hdtv running component, its abit dishonest if they have been showing doctored images, no complaints with the game though :)

I'm going to agree that its a lot lower res then i expected and the framerate is a little sketchy outside and in towns.. gameplay wise its still great.. but its simply not ' The best looking game I have ever seen in my life ' - xbox.com

looks like low end pc screenie, check the pc shots in the pc games forum, some one posted low spec in game shots.


Glad i went for the pc version now
 
surly the 360 with its 48 unified pipelines can produce to the same level as a high end PC i would even have to say it could do better then my 7800 GTX maybe not as good as a X1900 though.

But i have to say the screenshots don't look as good as i was expecting though but maybe we were expecting to much as the 360's development is still in the first stages i mean look at the latest gen of ps2 games they look a mile ahead of the first set so i guess the 360 will be the same.

How do you go about that?

I'm about 3hrs in and so far have spent about 60% of the time going from place to place. Even on a horse it took ages to get to a city and I kept getting attacked by bandits.

The graphics are nice, but nowhere near those posted in the TeamXbox thread - those are either uber-PC or severely post processed.

The game is good so far. I'm a bit annoyed as I didn't go into the first big city when I was near it, and now I'm miles away from it and at the first Oblivion gate.

I created a class which was somewhere between a thief and an assassin and I'm playing as a wood-elf. I'm really struggling at the minute as the sword I have is pants and shooting people with arrows doesn't seem to do much damage. I also keep getting attacked by bandits.

There's a huge amount of stuff in this game... Earlier I killed a bandit and found a novel in his camp. It was only 16 pages long but it was an actual story etc. The interiors are also full of interesting items.

I'm wondering if that's a caching issue y'know. I mean look at the grey 'smear' in the water. It's as if the texture hasn't loaded fully yet.

depends on time, lets face it, in 2 years we can all play it on what will then be a PC twice as powerful as anything we have now, and we will install the mods that give infinite draw/tree/object distance. and the game will be perfect.

You should have seen some of the lighting and texture mods for morrowind..!! much OMGODERRY

Just got home, guess what i got, thats right a piece of paper saying they tried to delivery a package but no one was in to sign for it and a very unhappy wife who is giving me the evils asking what the hell i have bought now.


I'm in trouble!!!!!!!!:eek:
 
2 bad things about this game for me are the into has a weird stutter and its overkill on red/orange in certain places lol

Apart from that its quality
