Just got home, guess what i got, thats right a piece of paper saying they tried to delivery a package but no one was in to sign for it and a very unhappy wife who is giving me the evils asking what the hell i have bought now.

I'm in trouble!!!!!!!!

The Gameplay Boxes sometimes don't fit in my letterbox, however, the postman just opens my door and puts it on the floor to the side.
I have an awesome postman.

Have to throw my few pence in (again). I've been playing rpgs since Ultima IV and I'm 'only' playing at 480P but my god; I've been waiting my whole life (and my wife feels the same) for this.

On my 32" CRT through the 5.1 it's imo quite staggering; ok I could fault the odd texture but the clouds, the butterfly that just passed me, the breeze, the storm clouds in the distance, the music, the ambience.

Historically because of the scale involved RPGs have always lagged behind the graphics of fps; morrowind was good but compared to far cry to paled.

Now this...

I've been outside 30 mins and for me as a trad. rpg fan it's staggeringly beautiful; maybe I'm easily swayed as I remember playing worlds full of pixelated sprites. I would say, so far imo for a RPG this can truly be called next gen.

When you order from Gameplay select the bag instead of the box as it's far more likely to fit through the letterbox.

Couldn't agree more. Loved it when I saw the butterfly go past. I love wandering into the woods and finding lots of variety of mushrooms and picking them, then putting them together with my pestel and mortar to create treatments. Just more depth than Morrowind already.

This is the game I was waiting for before I picked up a 360... now all I need is some £££ then I'm all set... :D

Goto say the performance when you get out in the wild parts is rather poor tbh, jerking all the time bit dissapointing tbh i would have expected smoother play.

mines as smooth as you like outdoors. textures in the distance are a bit poo, but otherwise it's a decent enough game.

Seriously? I get loading pauses every few seconds :(

Dosent run that great on 7800GT - FX55 and 2gb ram, 1280x1024, its about 25fps by the look of it. Thats inside, i managed to kill one of my 7800Gt's, so im not too happy, i only bought the second for oblivion :(

I get quite a few loading pauses but I wouldn't say every few second. It's when you enter a different area. They last for about 1 second and can be annoying.

I'm quite new too this but I think I just reached the end of the first level and I'm got owned :( Anyone who do it, got any hints or tips?

Smokedog - I've done the first level, if you want to take it to either the story or spoiler thread I'll be happy to help and we can be as specific as we need to ;)

My constant loading problems have been solved since clearing the cache :D

And btw... WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS GAME??

they are all playing it

the console forum will be pretty dead now lol

I've logged about 5-6hrs and I can't play any more today. Don't get me wrong, it's great, but I was starting to go a little square eyed ;)

The annoying thing is, because it's so open ended you can't have a discussion about what people think of various parts of the game as from what I've read, everyone is playing it totally differently. Some people have already levelled up loads and not touched the first Oblivion gate, whereas I'm level 2 and already closed it etc etc.

You can't post a nice reply about 'Yeah it was so cool when monkey's flew out of that guy's arse' or how you didn't know motorbikes could ride over lakes... Because chances are, no one else is exploring the same things as you are in the first few hours of gameplay.

I think you've just summed up the ES series in one post right there.

Yep its also why the majority of people stop playing, they cant hack the open ended nature. Preferring the faux freedom offered by games like gta. No imagination see?

ES games are meant to be a personal experience, one that you can then relay as a story to others. Even those that have played the game end to end. After months of play I can tell a fantastical tale about how i set out to find a telvanni mage, hunted vampires in the bowels of the earth and combatted a plethora of magical and deadly creatures. Whilst others will have completed the same tasks, they will have a totally different story to tell.

IMO thats the beauty of the series, and i wouldnt change it for the world!

[edit] @ Icebus - Dont worry too much, within about a month you'll pretty much gonna be able to talk about what you want, it'll take around that long for all players to become familiar with things, then there will be less anti-spoiler feelings. Remember some of us have been eagerly awaiting this release for 4years or so!
