The Oblivion 360 Thread

Its a great game i goto say. cant say i really been a rpg fan, i have tried others but never liked them. I am about 22hrs in now and am not getting bored at all, spent sometime becoming Grand Champion, Arena but thats done now.

Ok not able to confirm the cheap price for Oblivion 360 but if anyone has a WH Smith (not a competitor i don't think?) then lots of people are confirming that if they sell 360 games (Mine doesn't, boohoo) they have Oblivion 360 for £31.99 as a national misprice (looks like they've put the Xbox price on it) and it scans through as £31.99

I'm afraid to say I can't get that excited about this game at the moment.

I'm not really used to the open endedness and I'm doing a lot of aimless wandering which is very boring and I just can't get excited about it.

Glad you're all enjoying it though and I shall keep persevering.

In your case, its probably a good idea to stick to the main story quests, the direction you need to go is marked in red on your compass(assuming the story quest is your currently active quest, which you can change).

i havent done much of the story ive just been raiding dungeons under ruins that are all over the place. One is opposite the exit from the sewers when you first get outside on the small island.

I got my hands on a SWEET oblivion calendar.. check it out!

calendar.jpg

Got a bunch of stuff from Take2 for review and they always throw in some additional ' stuff ' .. yelped when it was a nice Oblivion calendar. Got a poster aswell but it was folded :(

ok i just cant seem to get into this at all :(
Think i am just going to plough into the main quest, think everybody talking about side quests is putting me off. When i start thinking and looking for things like that, it just seems like an MMORPG but without the fun of having people to talk too. They shoulda put in a chat box so you could talk to your live friends and a global chat, that woulda made it better lol
Also i got the godfather and its so pick up and play its putting me off this :(

you can chat to your friends to a point. just press the xbox guide button and invite your mate(s) into private chat.

other than that, i agree entirely. think i'll stick to WoW for my RPG jollies.

I find it a bit of a chore to play it to be honest, i had to find a guy in this building, killing loads of these Scamp things then after all that the guy i was supposed to find was dead on the floor! Just seems a bit strange, the quest so far seems like go here find this person...RPG's usually pick up after 10 hours anyway if KOTOR is anything to go by...

Review just in; it got 9.6 on Gamespot. A pretty astonishing score when you consider how harsh GS are on their games.

Got Oblivion on my PC as it was cheaper but the graphics are really bad, even with a kick as. system. I know my lowly 7800's can’t do HDR & AA at the same time but we're talking 50fps here for no grass dodgy looking hills.
I can only presume the 360 version is the same & judging by the screenshots it is.
I got a cable for my 19" lcd today & Advanced Warfighter did not look to be running AA or maybe 2x and was stuttering badly at 1280, the split screen is really cut down too, graphics wise.
With 3 CPU's then the performance hit must be down to the onboard r580 ?, will the PS3 be a lot better so are the Japanese right to wait ?.
Perhaps this post is a jab at the 360 but so far I’m not impressed with it, unless you want to play great games without spending thousands on a PC then the 360 is good I recon.
PC screenshot below, I know its hard to take a 360 screenshot at 1280, as I hope the 360 version isn’t as bad as the PC.

lol no helpin some folks. try specsavers.

I 'think' I may have found the answer to these Xbox360 screenshot 'worries'.

There's been a LOT of talk about how screenshots on various forums/review sites may be post-processed, and up until a few hours ago I'd have agreed.

I have noticed however that you can get the same 'post-processed' images depending on the time of day in the game.

If you enter a city where the sun is shining at an angle, rather than directly overhead (for example, 16:00ish), then the bloom and specular highlights are more vivid.

I'm just wondering if these minor complaints we've all made are purely because we haven't appreciated the full capabilities of the games engine.

I agree with that. On my TV dawn looks completely crap but midday looks amazing graphics wise. On my mates big HDTV it all looks amazing but particulary dusk and dawn due to the changing colours of light and how HDR reflects the changes lol. Also run near an oblivion gate and things get pretty :D

Take a look at my screenshots HERE. NOW tell me this game looks bad, go on...I dare you.

Got this today, after trading in the old slimline ps2.

Fantastic game, cant keep off of it..

<Mini Gord Spoiler?>

Although, i hope i havnt broken it already.. i kinda did with Morrowind exploiting the world.. and well, i went to Anvil.. did a ship quest, but couldnt kill the spooky ghosters.. so i lured them outside, where they killed all the guards and towns folk.. grabbed me one of the fallen guard's nice shiny swords and ran for the hills..

:D

Would be nice to see those at the true resolution.

I'm taking thats on PC as you've got screengrabs.. what's the framerate at with the visuals looking like that outside?
