• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

**The OcUK Benchmarks thread!**

Yup, I think we can all agree benching BF3 can be an absolute pain as everyone plays the game a little differently, we have an 'as good as' view at the moment.

Any results found to be in the spirit of performance boosting for competition just won't be added, its that simple :)

It looks to me the clear winner of 12.11 being released is 7870 owners, clock for clock with a 7970 they are only hovering around 15fps lower then a 7970 :)

I had a comment deleted in the 'gaming evolved' thread the other day for saying AMD were moving in the right direction, go figure :p

I wonder what the AMD announcement will be on monday? I don't have facebook but im sure someone will post the details.

More driver improvements or 8xxx details? Which do you reckon?

Driver or bundle deals I would have thought.

I'd be quite surprised if AMD released the HD8000 cards before Nvidia this time around.

I don't think it can be more driver performance, that would be ridiculous considering the gains we've seen already.

Now we've said all this it will probably be something that means nothing to most of us.

Probably spot on with that, it'l be some game bundle deal for one of the lower end cards most likely. If it was a big announcement I don't think they would use bookface to launch it :D

Yeah I don't think it'll be driver improvements. It would kind of reduce the potency of "Never Settle".

Now you're all caught up to us lads with Kepler cards in the driver performance front you can look forward to minor improvements of less than 5% on a game or two per driver release :D.

Performance looks about right now based on the hardware. You'd expect the two cards to be round about even at 1080p with the 7950/7970 faster moving up through the resolutions. It was only the relatively poor performing drivers which allowed the Kepler cards to be close/even at these resolutions anyway.

Am I a little upset an overclocked 7950 crossfire combo is better in Surround than my 680's? A little bit yes but that's the price you pay for buying a graphics card on release when you only have one monitor and then buy two more! :D

If these drivers were out when I bought my monitors I would have sold my 680 there and then and bought 2 7970's instead. Ah well!

I hear you rusty. :)

I'd like to have a little side bet that a 7970 is faster now at 1080p than a 680, unless you have a super clocking 680. :o (taking into account both overclocked)

Trying to do what Gregster done, not as many results though.
I'm happy to keep editing this post if Pgi wants to link this on the main page, providing everyone wants to do "Going Hunting" mission as per the video.

I'll add Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround whenever somebody does them (I will later tonight)

If you could that would be awesome of you!!

Machine is up and running again so I'll update tomorrow evening (I promise!) before I have a couple of nights of down time for rebuild.

Talking fag paper differences though. At 1080p you're effectively the same with either card.

Very much so.

BF3 - Going Hunting (like the video)

All maxed Ultra Settings & 4xMSAA @ 1080p

Sapphire 7950 @ 1150/1650 (Cat 12.11 Beta) - 2700K @ 4.6GHz - RAM @ 1600MHz (8-8-8-24-2T)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
29940, 295661, 73, 192, 101.265

Started to see some slight artifacts on this longer run so i may just bench at 1100/1625 from now on.. dont wana break anything :)

My card (and MyBrains too) is 950/1250 stock.
Whaddya reckon, downclock to 800 or leave it?

Btw, went to do the BF3 bench and the game's f'd. Won't display menus and refuses to be fixed, so here I am waiting until everything (5.4gb update/3.7gb AK/2.8gb CQ) has finished re-downloading.

FFS...

If you don't mind clocking down to reference 7950 clocks, it will defo help.
I'm about to do some eyefinity CF runs, if i get time i'll do a single 1080 run.
