**The OcUK Benchmarks thread!**

No, he and I run that test with single 680s. I think you must have had a spike or something, as your averages are close to ours. I would run the test again and see if it does it again.

Seems very low minimums.

Yeah. When I was extensively benching Surround I got such variations from run to run. Like a difference of about 20-30 on the minimums on some games, BF3 included.

On games with large variance I ran 5 or more benches and averaged them. On all others I ran 3.

Ill have another go later. Are you using FRAPS to do the benching?

Also dosent help im a rubbish shot and run straight into the middle of the carpark to draw all the shooting people towards me lol

It can vary a bit. :)

There does not look like there's much in it. It could all be down to how people play the game. When i play fps i like to play at a high pace so will probably see more of a map and get killed more doing so but others prefer to sit in corners and move forward slower which will probably give much more average fps.

Very nice results though guys and pretty much shows that amd or nvidia are comparable in the majority of the games.

Gone back to SLI/Surround now. I tried to re-enable Surround and SLI at the same time which was stupid. Screens go black and motherboard lets out an almighty **BEEEEP**. From much experience of this crap: both cards disabled in Device Manager is the reason (not that I can see as my screens are black!). Reboot in safe mode, re-enable them in Device Manager, reboot back into Windows and try again.

It works.

But because Surround can be gash, I have to save my custom resolution again :D. Fun fun. That in a nutshell is why I couldn't be arsed to do the benches in the first place :D.

Yes I am ranting.

+1

A few of us have said this for a while now. It comes down to preference/needs/money/games mainly played. I feel with a few more benches from 7950s/670/7870s/660TIs and even something cheap and cheerful like a 7770 would give us a good indication of how each card compares to its counter card in terms of fps. I personaly don't think we will see much in it at all but when you get to the realms of 7850/660, this is where every frame counts for a smoother experience and a certain game that is played could favour one brand to maintain that smoothness.

For example, if you was a fan of Dirt showdown, it may suit to buy a 7850 if this was your top budget. Like wise, if you was a fan of BF3, it may pay to get a 660TI if this was your top budget. I am not saying that this is indicative of reslults but could be a deciding factor.

I feel your pain and this is a major gripe with me. Switching between SLI and single crad can be a PITA and I get (close down .exes before continuing) and sometimes, black screen and ijnfi\ufh\oiuhfoiufhoiuf. My rant over :)

It worked for me Humbug.

I decided to run some more benchmarks, this time with my memory clocked a bit higher providing 350Gb/s bandwidth.

Rather than disabling features in dirt/avp to get higher fps i went with the highest possible settings. In dirt this involved the full ultra preset but with AA knocked down to x2. Advanced lighting etc was all on.
