I'd have said it would be OK for access. I know I only briefly met your dad but he seemed mobile enough as it was only that smooth slope to walk down to the beach and then that path of stones to walk over. Then you're on the beach :)

He'll be pleased to hear that :) I think a lot of it is in his head, knocked his confidence a lot so he feels like he stands out now.

I'll suggest it to them and they can have a go, my Mum could do with a day out so I'm sure if they can't do that beach they'll explore a bit and find somewhere else :)

Hi guys,

This thread grows about 10 pages every time I look at it :o

I know the pictures are closed to attendee's only... but is there any chance of scenery pics ?

He has a point :)

We need to be posting photos to encourage people to come to these events in future, please post your pics as long as they don't have any of the 'no publicity' members in them :)

I dont understand why people dont come to these meets unless they have very important reasons such as money/work/weddings/funerals. If you've got a long way to travel, who cares. I traveled 6 hours on Friday and Monday for this meet, and Stan came from blooming Scotland to come to it. The shortest distance was probably Haly, and that was still around an hour trip IIANM.

Because some people might not want to? :p
There's another forum I go on regularly that often has meets but I've got absolutely no interest in meeting any of the people there so I wouldn't bother going.
Just depends what you go on the forum for really :)

There is also the misperception that meets are populated by an elite and can appear innaccessible to "ordinary" members (at least that's how I felt before I went to Leeds).

With the exception of the dons and UBs meets, this is not the case and these events are open to all members who wish to attend.

Stan :)

Hope we quickly dispelled those thoughts Stan :)

I was nervous the first time I went on a meet, but I was meeting big bad mod team members and didn't know anyone. The regulars on normal meets are such nice guys that there's really no need for those kinds of thoughts.

I can't say I was too nervous before the first Swansea meet I went to. I drove into London to meet Will and then travelled down with him so I got to know somebody quite well before diving into the full on meet :)

Now I just don't worry about the meets anymore as I know there will be at least 3 or 4 people I've met before.

Oh, and as Stan says...it's not just and Elite group (lol, sounds like the A-Team) but everybody and anybody can turn up.

I think going in with people does help :)
At Swansea I walked in on my own and I felt a lot more self concious because of it and as it was my first meet it affected my nerves. With camping as I was going with you, Piggy and Stan I already had people to talk to, to warm up with so to speak. Definitely helped.
Now I've broken the ice it'll make future meets even easier :D

so just because you come, u want everybody to come too? even if someone hasnt got any of the reasons u listed (or not), doesnt mean they HAVE to come, for eg, some one i knew before said that they dont like the idea of meeting with strangers, if they want socialising they will go out with their friends!

An elite group? Loveable rif-raf more like :D

I was really nervous before the Leeds do, and the Kent do too. I have to say that it was the Kent met when I started to feel relaxed around my fellow ocuk'ers. It was a longer meet which meant that I got to know people better :) I am quite a shy person :o

These meets are so much fun, I'd really reccomend attending to everyone! It's great to put faces to names, and everyone is really nice!

But the point of meeting strangers is to gain new friends :)

I was very wary of meeting total strangers at the Leeds meet, but I had spoken to desmo via icq for months, Piggy, Freefaller and Otacon. I felt like I already knew them to a certain extent.

Before the Kent meet I spoke to loads more of the people going, which resulted in the forming of the 'tigball' :)

I dont think creature was implying that people 'have' to come, just that they should if they can and want to :)

How do you meet friends if you won't talk to strangers?
