I dont think creature was implying that people 'have' to come, just that they should if they can and want to :)

Nah.. I reckon we ought to start forcing people to turn up :D

Meets, particularly like the BBQ one, are such great fun there is little in the way of genuine reason to not turn up if you're free. If you're not good at socialising, thats even more of a reason, if anyone can make you open out of your shell its these guys!
I still have the hangovers of a 'loner' teenage lifestyle impacting on my social skills, but I didn't feel self-concious at all about turning up and meeting folk. I was a little nervous before Uttoxeter, but I'd been chatting with peeps on the forums for over three years before the meet. That and I'm a big boy now, more than capable of handling myself. If I hadn't liked the situation I could always escape one way or another.

wasnt having a go at poor creature :p per se, but just making a point.
and i know that meeting stranger = making new friends but some PEOPLE dont see it that way tho, in their opinion its like why bother going to see someone u see like once every year?

anyways back on topic.

But the people I've met at meets, I speak to most of them via msn a few times a week. We cant make it to anymore meets this year, but that doesnt matter.

I have family that I've seen less this year than ocuk people :D

You dont have to see people regularly to make friends with them. I have 2 best friends on my msn list who I have only actuall met irl once, but they're still 2 of the best friends I will possibly ever have! We even had a hen night for one of them via msn a few weeks back :D

I think the BBQ one last week was probably an ideal one for new people to get in and get to know people. Especially once that alcohol had loosened tongues and anxieties (hic).

I haven't been to a meet at a theme park, but I would guess that with so much to do, people wouldn't be able to mix as much?

It wasnt just the park :)

The night before we all went out for drinks and dinner, the following morning/afternoon was the park itself and we went out again that evening. Some of us stayed for some Saturday activities as well.

Was an excellent meet that... Custferters *heaves*
