The OCUK Whisky (and Whiskey) review thread

I take it Jack Daniels and Jim Beam arelooked down on?
Though why?

Both of them are large batch drinks so they'll always taste the same - if you like the taste and that's what you want then there's no reason to look down on them.

Bulleit Bourbon and Woodford Reserve are two I've tried which tasted reasonably good as well as not being too expensive. I tend to prefer whisky though so I'm far from an expert.

I funnily enough was given a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon yesterday (friends who come over for a meal bringing high abv alcohol are always welcome!).

I've tried Jim Bean, Jack Daniels and Knob Creek and didn't like any of them but Bulleit seems really quite easy to drink on its own.

i brought a bottle of ardmore legacy in makro at the weekend for £22 inc vat and it's really nice. i found the peated unchil filtered ardmore 46% stuff to peaty for me. this stuff was good.

they had some nice offers on for makro to, tomatin legacy also £22 inc vat - lovely drop that.

Just seen this thread and it's annoyed me!! lol

I love Whiskey but for whatever reason I had stomach problems a few years back and stopped drinking it - problems went away. I never drink much but it just one day stopped agreeing with my system.

Miss it - always preferred a few glasses over lager.

My fave was always 12 yr Glenlivet.
Always loved the taste of that - could savour it all evening.

I might try some again and see how I get on. Problems may have been linked to other things. Fingers crossed as it'll be nice to enjoy some over the hols.

My wife is a big Whiskey drinker - she did the tour of the highlands once and loved it. Always end up jealous when she's drinking it and I've just got bottles of coors light (even though that's nice lager)

Juse seen there that its also £18 at Tesco, have never had it before, what does it compare to? I am looking something for the new decanter on the table for xmas day lol. Ideally dont want something too thin, if you know what i mean. Could be tempted to maybe pick up Laphroaig at the £25 mark

Caol Ila 12 is available for £37 at Tesco. It's a great Islay whisky, and a great price. If you like Laphraoig/Talisker but fancy something a bit different and a bit more special it's well worth it's price.

It's such a dark, and brooding colour.
