As topdog said, its due to the Intel LPM not working properly. See here.
Interesting, i might give that a go then, thanks NickM, i'll let you know my findings.

I didn't have (or couldn't see) any hotswap setting on my mobo, but the registry fix by itself worked fine for me. I also have a 2.02 firmware drive, the disappearing thing (which you should probably be able to correct short term with a cold boot) mostly occurs with higher firmware revisions, though not exclusively. I'd suggest changing your bios setting back and try the LPM registry fix. It basically tells the SSD to not sleep, which should also help ensure it doesn't disappear off the radar any time soon.
I would try the drivers from the Intel site. Asus never keeps its software up to date.
I don't know if your running Windows 7 x64 or x32 so you pick.

Having fun bios?![]()
Interesting the one i downloaded from the Asus site says:
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V10.5.0.1026 for Windows Vista/7 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)
and it's 251mb released 01.06.2011
Whereas the one on that intel link are:
12/15/2010 version 10.1.0.10 and only 0.26 MB
But they're both called the same thing?
No idea why he linked to such old drivers, these are the 10.6 RST.
Still on 2.02 here. No issues with stuttering or BSOD, but have noticed my read/write performance has decreased since I put the drive in.
Is this something that the firmware addresses, or would I need to erase the drive to get the performance back?
Thanks.
There will be a slight performance decrease but trim should keep that in check. Unless there is a significant performance decrease then I wouldn’t bother with a secure erase.
As to 2.11 don’t go anywhere near it unless you’ve had problems. With the current bad track record of firmware releases it’s far too early to see if this is finally a stable bios.
