The Offical Lian Li PC-A05 Owners Discussion/Modding Thread!

Here is my A05N. Believe it or not I went from a V2000 to this, but I love it. Suits my needs just fine.

I love how you can totally strip it down to nothing at all:

Here it is "finished":

A look inside. I removed the hard drive cage as I don't need it:

And finally a look at my custom made SATA power cable and tiny SATA data cables:

Specs are:
ASUS Rampage II Gene
I7 920 (At stock for now)
6GB OCZ Reaper
8800GT
32GB Core V2 SSD (which works really well btw)
150GB Raptor

It's typical Lian Li build quality (aka great). Not sure how big a TRUE is, but I know a Tuniq Tower fits. Not sure how a TRUE compares to a Tuniq size-wise.

The V2000 I had was overkill for what I had in there tbh. I had plans to go watercooling but in the end I decided against it. Don't like the idea of water and PC components :P

The only downside to these cases is that they attract finger marks lol.

Cracker, very nice build. If I could suggest sth as a modder - I would take it apart and paint the internal case, mat black for example. I just finished my huge project and soon will be planning to build A05, heavily watercooled. I already bought a case and will paint it black. Many people did it a nd this case looks amazing painted black. Then next step could be braiding cables white or black. I was planning to go for balck-orange theme, but also concidering black-white...

I did have my A05 watercooled and then moved to a full tower but after deciding to go back to air cooling i unpacked the A05 again so i am using it now :) .

This is a pic of the case when i bought it and had it watercooled .

I ordered a new gfx card and a decent cpu cooler yesterday and they arrived this morning but i didnt have time to set it up properly until this afternoon .

I like new toys to play with :D .

I did my best at hiding the cables as much as possible .

The gfx card looks great and i cant wait to try out cod4 - grid - fallout 3 etc and should get a big increase in FPS over the 8800gts 320mb i was using LOL!!! .

yeah I've been getting the same for a few days off this thread, but it appears not to have destroyed my PC so it's hopefully all good!

Does anyone experience any temperate troubles with this case? Currently trying to run a i7 920 @ 4Ghz, 3 hard drives and a 285 gtx in here and it gets ridiculously toast i.e. 90c. Got 5 120mm fans (enermax clusters on pwm - 2 on TRUE, 1 in, 1 out and 1 on a lian li BS-03). :(

Really thinking may have to re-consider my case choice as the front (near the exhaust of psu and front fan) get really hot to the touch.

I run an E5200 @ 4GHz and an ATI 4870 without such problems. The temps are quite high, but not enough to worry me.

I have two Yate Loon 120mm fans on low speed and a BS-03

I made a few changes to my set up due to my CPU and 8800GT getting very toasty. I added a Noctua CPU cooler and fans, and also mounted a 14cm Scythe fan to the top. Temps have since dropped drastically!

What bracket is that? Has it increased noise at all, and does the fan actually get enough air (considering it's so close to the side panel)?

Sorry for the questions, I have an A06 myself and it gets very warm so I'm looking for a way to cool it a bit. My 8800GTS likes to cook itself it seems!

The bracket is from an Lian Li V2000, think it's called the BS-02. The A05N has the same mounting screw holes so it screwed straight in no problems.

Noise hasn't increased. I leave the side panel off as it won't close with that fan anyway :p Once the summer months end I'll probably remove the fan and put the side panel back on. But for now my 8800GT is a lot cooler. Before there were times I couldn't touch it for more than 5 seconds without it burning my fingers.

Also, the fan is set to blow out of the case, basically sucking the hot air out of the gfx/pci slots area.
