****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

Is that in just one game or any game? Possibly try a different driver that might help.

happened in quake 4 and wow. Ive backed off cpu a bit, as i think it might be that.

Ive taken some shots of the 7900GTX in action.

Quake 4 - With and without FSAA

Without FSAA - Ultra Quality full detail 1600x1200 solid 60fps

4xFSAA 1600x1200 ultra full detail 60fps - drops to 40-50fps a few times

I cant really tell a difference with and without FSAA in Q4 tbh, ill keep it off and have the solid 60fps frame rate with the ultra detail thank you very much :)

The rest of the rig is by no means spectacular - 3700 @ 2.55ghz - 2gb ram at 230 1:1 - Abit 32x mobo.

Cards running at the moment 690 core 890 memory, giving 10920 3dmarks 05.

So, can anyone explain why i 'only' get 9730 in 3dmark05 with a 7900gt @ 550/1820 ? I would expect more looking at other peoples scores..

I have a 3700+ @ 2.65ghz, 2gb ddr400, a 400W akasa psu, and im using 84.21 forceware

I get 1200 points more than you with my GTX, so id say thats about right.

Maybe weve both got the same problem :p

EDIT: Just had a go with FEAR, tried the graphics/framerate test.
With settings all at max, 1680x1050, 4xAA/16xAF, i get an average of 46fps and maximum 93 fps :D , so my huge memory overclock definatley helped a lot.

SD3700 @ 2.55ghz - 2gb ram. Using the nvidia drivers from the site the day the card arrived.

You think i should be getting more? I thought that was quite good :D

Well it seems your rig is very similar to mine, so its either the cpu or possibly nvidia driver.

Increasing my memory clock by 40mhz, to 1860mhz, gives me a 3dmark05 points increase of...... 40 :p

It seems at these kinds of speeds, increasing by any more is having less of an affect. But it was artifact free so i'll go for 1900mhz :D

Well my 7900gt finally reached its limit, got a bit (yes, a bit) of artifacting with memory @ 1900mhz! (on air)
So its staying at 1850 unless i get any problems after a few hours gaming :D

Am i the only one actually doing any overclocking here?? I cant wait for someone to beat my clock :p

bump back to top :P

Card seems spot on at 690/890 now - Had a one hour game of prince of persia the two kings and it ran like a dream, last time i tried it was with a X1800XT and it was a cut above.

I have to say when i put on oblivion, i was thinking the card really dosent seem that great, but playing with quake 4 and POP, both games my X1800XT would (while not struggling) not be able to run smooth as silk with all detail on. Im utterly delighted now, looking forward to some new games coming out though :)

I'm just shy of 12k

3D mark 05 11850 :D

What speed is your card clocked at?

I know my board and ram arent set up right, i should be getting about 31sec super pi at 2.7 and i was getting just under 33secs, dunno what it could be though, although ive had about 3 cards in this before i put the 7900 so perhaps just needs a format.

Is latest official nvidia drivers the best?
