** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Oh nice, but cant you manually adjust shaders? Have they always changed automatically or is it since they introduced manual shader overclocking into it?

Do you have your speakers loud? the only problem about this fan is if you turn it up and end up hearing it its awfull, little 60mm fan whine, great that its silent, door is always open downstairs so a nice chilling draft comes up and as my PC is on the floor at the moment ir runs really cool as I also have the side of the case off.

Always did automatically, not you can clock them yourself too :)

Pretty sure you could change them manually on the GTS/GTX.

I changed my GTS with a Bios mod

You can change em manually in Rivatuner, last time I seen there was a seperate slider for shader clock, I'm sure on the GTS when I overclocked it the Shader Clock did not increase

Not sure, I suspect it's being done automatically in the driver??

Just Dial in the clocks and see what happens.

I really do feel these cards are being help back by lack of voltage. I'm sure they will become screamers with a voltage mod.

Maybe there is some software to up the voltage, I mean 700+ is allready good, these are amazing cards, I've never known a card better, I think that I'll never sell this card because when I come to get a new card some day this will be a good backup card.

I'm glad I can use heaps of AA again :D, 16xQAA in HL2 EP2, things like UT3 I'll be happy with 4xAA, but were I can use 16xAA I'll use it, honestly, a Brilliant card, cant believe it.

I use a headset and my case fans are louder than the GT even at 70%, I'm ok with that, you should have heard the 2900 xt kick in at 65% in games:eek:the GT is nowhere near as bad. I'm using ntune to overclock and it does indeed increase the shaders automatically, I'm currently at 1795 from 1500

So can you or can't you manually clock the shaders on these? My 320mb GTS has the shader at 1650. You only see the rise when running 3d apps, leave the hardware monitor in Rivatuner on. How do these cards do with loads of AA. Not just 4x like most reviews are showing.

Honestly, I hate to sound like a Nvidia fanboy, but I wont be going back to ATi unless they pull something big out of bag.

HL2:EP2, I use 16xQCSAA
TF2: same
CSS: same
Portal: same
Lost Planet: 8XAA
UT3, havent tried AA, but 4x proberbly, I assume 8x or higher will be too much of a hit?
GTA: Level 3, crap performance in that game, has a problem with high end cards.

I'll see what other games I have, I'll try crysis sometime with 4xAA, cba with it yet far too big to download, brilliant card tho, 4xAA-8xAA causes slight lag in some of those games.

1920x1200 feels silky smooth suprised by the low numbers. Feels faster when playing.

Interesting difference between our score for nowa gain. Quads don't seem to benifit very much at all.

So it should handle Crysys @ 1280x1024 sufficently well then - Woop!! :D

Some people spend their whole life waiting on things, this the best card out now and that's a fact, forget your GTX or ULTRA's, the GT is the one, the new GTS maybe a wee bit better but not much, GT F T W.

Turned into a right NVIDIA boy ain't you. ;)

I was kind of blinded by my devotion to ATI but after seeing what Nvidia have done with the GT i just had to go way from ATI, they need something big in November with the new cards or it does not look good, i am sad to say.:(

Apparently the 3800 series will be cooler and lower power but not as far, that sound about right if they are just 2900's with less memory bus and on 55nm fab, I wont be changing whatever the performance tho, aint doing an 8800GTS-2900XT again lol, I'm gonna be happy with what I got :D.

Just run Crisis everything high no AA under XP E6600 @ 3.6 - 745/2100/1863

Just for a comparison I have the same specs as Asgard but I have an 8800GTX @ 621/1512/2000

Ok, 1680x1050 Lost coast bench:
4xFSAA (6xFSAA doesn't work, no 8x or 16x listed) 16xAF max everything else
130fps

CSS Stress test
8xCSAA 16xAF, 1680x1050, max everything else
209fps - with 4xFSAA it's just under 230fps.

These are with factory overclocks on the GT and cpu at 2.6ghz

You at stock? Just tested and I got 211 with 8xCSAA at 1680x1050 in CSS Stress test so getting good results :D.

temps are a bit high on these eh?

idleing around 60 and maxing around 90??

anyone else the same?

According to Ntune I'm idling at 50 degrees.

Just ran CSS Stress Test, in that I got to 63 degrees then went down to 62 and back to 63 so maxing temp out there, awsome!.
